Title: Tell us about your favorite priest
Post by: graceseeker on October 05, 2017, 04:03:27 PM
My favorite was one I met years ago who was good enough to tell me about the Real Presence. If he had not done so, I would... well, I just hate to think of it

I would have missed out SO much, which goes w/o saying

Now the Real Presence may be gone... I mean, I don't know, but I have been in Churches where i didn't really sense the RP at all

My favorite priest died.   He taught us about Latin Mass, Adoration, Baltimore Catechism.
Angels, ... He faced persecution right up to his death.

On very hot summer days my favorite priest used to remind us all that there was one place hotter.

Father would warn us about hell. And we prayed for souls in purgatory too.  He wanted yo save our souls.

Father was kind and he was our friend.  I miss when he would call us during the day before lunch. And give his blessing to us over speaker phone.

He love us unconditionally.

He gave us confidence to pray the Rosary and lead in prayer.

He was so persecuted.  He was the resistance from within.  He was the only priest who fought against Church closings too.  To remove and close down Catholic Church or chapel is a sin.

He was a real Catholic Priest.

I have many favorites priests for different reasons, but I will talk about Father Michael Oswalt because he was the priest that woke up one morning very early and rushed to my home when he was called by one of my adult children because my husband was on his deathbed.

My husband was alert but in great distress with breathing.  He was dying.  Father Oswalt came so fast he didn't even turn off his head lights, he prayed the prayers of the dying, encouraged all of us who were present to begin the rosary of which one of my grandsons lead us in the 15 decades rosary. (he passed away during this time) We finished the rosary after his death.  Father Oswalt was by his side as he took his last breath and he remained there to help me accept God's Will.

Just the priest being present there was a great gift from God.

My husband received everything possible including the Apostolic Blessing and was alert enough to say the name of Jesus at the appropriate time when the blessing was administered.

Here is a link for those who have not heard about this priest who at one time was an "ordained" novus priest, but had the humility to understand that he was not a priest at all and left the novus ordor to correct his ordination.

Thank you for sharing, Myrna. I remember when your husband was dying. I hope and pray that my husband and I will have a similar gift fro God when the time comes.

God bless and protect Father Oswalt
