I wouldn't be surprised if TAN had a greater NUMBER of customers that were Novus Ordo.
After all, which forum has more members, Catholic Answers or CathInfo? Of course, Catholic Answers which appeals to ALL Catholics will have more members than a forum which aims to please a sub-set of the whole group.
However, I bet the die-hard TAN fans, who have put up with all of TAN's problems over the decades, and purchased a large number of TAN books, are disproportionately Traditional Catholic.
At any rate, it's difficult for a business like TAN, because you want to stay in business above all, and that means making money. How do you make enough money, while not alienating the die-hard traditional fan base? In my opinion, that is what TAN is trying to do. It's quite a tightrope act.
With a few exceptions, traditional Catholics tend to have less money per capita than Novus Ordo Catholics. Perhaps it is because the Novus Ordo is more embracing of the modern world, and doesn't require separation from it?
It's a phenomenon I've observed countless times, and I've been a traditional Catholic my whole life. Even seminary professors brought up the topic -- how many traditional Catholic men were only into sports, hunting and fishing, etc. and didn't aspire to a "profession" like psychology, lawyer, accountant, doctor, professor, etc.
Perhaps it's because a traditional Catholic knows instinctively how apart he is from the world, and how hard it is to be a faithful Catholic and live among pagans.
