  • I am a long time lurker, but a new member.  Because I haven't had a dog in any of the recent (or not so recent) spats, I thought I would offer some words.  Perhaps people will think because I am new, my opinion doesn't mean anything.  So be it.  I think this needs to be said.  I will not mention any names.

Some (perhaps many) posters here need to settle down and get over themselves.  A disagreement with another poster is not evidence of heresy.  A heated argument involving many people is not evidence of conspiracy.  No one has the ability to be right all of the time, and should be open to the possibility that they are wrong (it is part of our fallen nature after all).  If an argument becomes personal, then something is wrong.  If a person bring up irrelevant facts from past arguments, something is wrong.

Please settle down, think before you post, and be civil.

In the end, it is just an Internet forum, after all.

  • I think a lot of the recent tension is because of the numerous scandals at Fish Kill. Vox sat back and did nothing as a cross-dressing/transvestite "Catholic" spouted his nonsense with impunity, indeed, with full backing of the site owner. CI members will take anyone to task immediately if such nonsense is tried here. I agree that the name-calling should be curtailed.
"This principle is most certain: The non-Christian cannot in any way be Pope. The reason for this is that he cannot be head of what he is not a member. Now, he who is not a Christian is not a member of the Church, and a manifest heretic is not a Christian, as is clearly taught by St. Cyprian, St. Athanasius, St. Augustine, St. Jerome, and others. Therefore, the manifest heretic cannot be Pope." -- St. Robert Bellarmine

Oh really? I heard it recently described as an "apostolate."

  • This is the best Catholic forum in the business, for what it does and the level of civility here is top of the charts.

  • This is strange, today at Mass Father brought this very topic up.  Arguing, debating, and being nice to each other.
    Please pray for my soul.

I think that you just wasted your first posting of CI.

There's like gazillion postings per week here, some are written by men who are in their underwear writing from the basement of their parents house and some are written by very intelligent successful people in their fields, and the majority are written by those who fit in between.

Why don't you try commenting directly on the thread of whatever individual posting you object to.

I don't recall ever referring to anyone as "insane."  If I did, I apologize.

It wasn't my first post, and even if it was, I do not consider it wasted.

I'm not objecting to one specific thing, but what I see as a general problem among certain posters.

Timothy, I apologize. It was not you but LH. If I could edit my post I would.
