I need to share this with anyone interested in Syon Abbey.:
1. The Abbey was not canonically established as they have been led us to believe. While in KY, Fr. Francis Nugent was in defiance of his bishop (Ackerman), having his faculties removed in 1966 (before V2 was even implemented). This bishop never asked him to start an abbey. Since he had no grounds in good faith to establish the Abbey, the jurisdiction that the Church would supply according to Canon 209, would not apply.
2. No one, so far as I know, (and I'm tired of looking) can find an official record of his ordination and he has given different stories of where and when he was ordained. The dioceses of Boston, Wichita, Fort Wayne and Covington, all those where has has worked (maybe there are more), have no record of having ordained him. He has told people he was ordained in 1952, 1957 and 1958. If anyone has located the records, please chime in. I do not assert that he was not ordained, but things appear to be highly irregular and this has caused some anxiety.
3. He had been convicted of second degree sɛҳuąƖ abuse of a teen boy in 1984 in Curry County OR by jury trial. He has denied the charges, saying he was falsely and maliciously accused, but all of the facts are against him. We have information that this is the tip of the iceberg.
There is much I could post, but I think that is the information that people need to know.
I should say that I have never heard or read anything by Fr. Nugent that smelled of heresy. He appears to hold the Faith. There is an open question regarding sedevacantism, but that is an extremely minor issue compared to these others. Join us in praying for his reform. We can't support them anymore on the account of the deceptions.
