Supporting CathInfo

  • It has recently come to my attention that CathInfo is only bringing in $9.58 per month in ads. (For monthly traffic stats, see the very bottom of this post, if you're interested.)

That's not even enough to pay for expenses such as $1.50 a month for CWP Pro (software to help run the web server), or $15 a month for the static IP address required to run a web server, or the $13 a year for the domain name CathInfo.com.
But there are also harder-to-compute expenses such as electricity and Internet.

It's been a while since I've made an appeal.

I have received donations of various sizes (and formats) from various individuals over the past months, and I certainly appreciate the kindness and generosity of each one of them.

For those who haven't donated yet, or haven't in some time, please consider making a donation to support CathInfo.

As for "how" to donate, that's a bit tricky with the current "cancel culture"...

I don't think I'll hand out a list of accounts, etc. to the Internet at large, or even in Members Only so 100% of CathInfo members can see it, even if they have 0 intention to donate. (There are members/lurkers who "hate watch" CathInfo)
The best I can do for now is list the ways you can donate, and then ask you to contact me for the details:

    - Snail mail (my address)
    - Paypal (yes, Paypal. But not my old address!)
    - CashApp
    - Zelle

Or if you want to send a personal gift:
(See the Amazon link in my signature below)

    * Monthly stats
Google claims that I got 316,000 page views in January.
CathInfo software recorded 10,318,358 page views during the same month.
Anyone marked "supporter" has ads turned off, so that throws things off of course.
Plenty of both members and "guests" are using various means to turn off CathInfo ads.
And then there is the constant bot traffic which artificially inflates traffic the other way. So the actual CI traffic is somewhere between 316,000 and 10,318,358 page views per month.

  • Perhaps Ladislaus would consider setting up a GiveAHand page like he did for Fr Onuorah???

Well, one issue with GoFundMe type things is you have to give up a large chunk as a fee. Not really wild about that, personally. Is there a trustworthy one with a small enough fee?

  • I think spotfund.com is a free alternative to go fund me. I’ve seen several people I know use it and have heard no complaints.

I'm almost certain Lad said that GiveaHand is also free. Is it not possible to get your PayPal account up and working again?

    Just send me a PM.

I'm trying to recall exactly how it worked, but that was basically free, except I think they try to get people making donations to add a little "tip" on top of it to Give-a-Hand, and there migth be various transaction fees related to credit card or debit card use.  But overall it was the least onerous and expensive service I could find.

  • Here it is ... they do hit you with the typical payment transaction fees, but there's no platform fee, so it's about the best you're going to find.

Yeah, the chantcd one that I used to use "isn't accepting payments", so you'd probably either have to share the new one (perhaps paste it in Member Only?) or else PM everyone.  Give-a-Hand will charge about 3% transaction fees, but if you don't want to reveal your PayPal destination e-mail, then it might be more convenient.  Just want to make sure someone doesn't sniff you out and "deplatform" you there also.
