  • Does anyone do something special on Mother's Day for Our Blessed Mother that you'd be willing to share?

  • Well, on the day before Mothers' Day we went on the Mission Pilgrimage to the San Antonio missions.

This year we visited all 4 missions (Concepcion, San Jose, San Juan, and Espada) and got to actually go inside each of the churches!

We sang "Salve Regina" in each of them, plus we sang the Litany of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Also, throughout the pilgrimage we sang about 3 rosaries and said 2 more. (There's the special Mothers' Day element!)

The pilgrimage was long this year -- 9:30 to 3:50. Given our normal schedule, it involved getting up quite "early".

I took my three oldest children this year. They are pretty wore out now.

What a wonderful tribute to Mother.

  • In our church, Our Lady has flowers for the entire month of May.

Then we went out to eat with the family.  We gave our daughters the poem "Mother" by Cardinal Mindszenty.  We gave them their baby (hospital) wrist/ankle bands at birth.  Our daughters are age 29 to 41. and our son got his too, age 38.  They were surprised!  Then their father gave them 2 rings and a set of pearls from their Grandma who passed away 6 years ago.  Each daughter got exactly what she liked and with tears!  Wow!  A day we will cherish.

  • I plan to attend the next nine masses and pray for the repose of the soul of my mother.
