  • I'm not enjoying having to run the A/C in the middle of October...

And I don't run the A/C like some people, who run it for convenience, because the windows let too many bugs in, they don't like bothering with opening/closing windows, etc.

No, I pretty much only run the A/C when it doesn't even cool off at night. Or if it's so humid that it's equally uncomfortable. Well, that's right now.

    At 3:12 PM, it's 86.2 degrees, "feels like 96".

UPDATE: At 4:15 PM, it's now 88.6 degrees, "feels like 99". So, as you can see, the decision to run the A/C wasn't even "close". It was obvious.

Average temperature for my location is "High of 78, low of 57".

It's a few degrees cooler than a nice July day -- but other than that, it's indistinguishable. Where's Fall?

  • I admire Texas for its conservatism, but I can't imagine living with that heat.  My favorite season is the Fall, it cool but not cold.

I believe the Sun is going into a cycle, and/or the Earth is going into a periodic cycle of warmer temperatures (or just erratic/severe weather in general).

I don't believe man has much power to alter the earth's climate. That's giving mankind too much credit and power that he doesn't have. It's man getting high on himself.

The Sun is still millions of times more powerful than anything we puny humans can do.

  • As an Oklahoma gardener, I've been enjoying this Fall.  The peppers are doing good, and the potatoes are taking off.

Is it coincidence that those places easy on the flesh are filled with liberals?  :scratchchin:

I'm not a fan of 100+ degree temps, but I dislike freezing temps all the more. It very rarely freezes during the daytime here.

  • Y'all should come up to northern Alberta if you want cool to cold weather.
It is not snowing yet (thankfully) but one knows it is not far behind.

I remember a few All Hallows when I was down in Dixie. Weird experiencing summer weather that late in the year (for us arctic types).

I will send spare arctic air down when it comes.

There has been at least 18 inches of snow near me. Well, in my region.

It used to be a good place for Catholics here, but Vatican II ruined everything.  When Catholics lose their faith, many times they make the worst among the liberals.

  • My favorite season is the fall too.  We have been having some nice sunny days here in southern Ontario.  Warmer than usual.  About 70 degrees today and tomorrow with clear skies.

  • Yes, it's been glorious here in the Niagara wine region of Ontario, thanks be  to God.
There's nothing like fall in the northern US and Canada.

Matthew, I empathize.  We spent over a decade in Florida.  Stinkin', hot, humid and expensive re: air conditioning.

  • I was talking to my barber today about the nice weather here in southern Ontario and he said that Arizona got snow the other day.  So I checked online and sure enough ...  Strange.

Snow falls early this year in Northern Arizona

  • Too warm in southern Ontario....whew

I do not miss the humidity and the wet, damp winters. Flood at Yuletide near the neo-SSPX school. Fog. (I know why Rudolf needed a red nose for!)

Give me crisp -30 to -40C, with plenty of snow on the ground. :smirk:

I think all that heat makes southerners damn crazy like in other hot regions on the planet.

Northern cultures tend to be more rational and creative.

    IMO.

Anyway, "y'all" can keep that heat down there, it's been mid to upper sixties here in NY and I can't stand it, bring on the cold already.

Are you kidding me? I lived in the South and have had so much trouble up North with rude, hostile, immature, quick to anger, selfish, self-centered people and I've never seen so many effeminate men.  The self centered types just seem to be everywhere up here and it's more than small cultural differences. There is much more of a lack of consideration up here. The one thing that is better is there doesn't seem to be old money blue blood type of attitudes though. There are kind people too don't get me wrong but overall public conduct is much better in the Bible belt than up North.
