Stating the obvious - Websites are convincing

  • I can count on one hand the number of websites I've been to that don't make a good case for their position, or sound credible when considered completely in isolation.

A man writes an article, a post, or a webpage and throws out all this arguments. Taken together, it's usually quite convincing. All the objections that thousands of people might have are...totally absent. Any false logic, false information, twisting of facts or logic, logical fallacies, etc. will stay hidden, unless you figure them out for yourself.

It reminds me of a joke I read recently:

    Quote
After listening to the prosecutor, the defendant stood up and told the judge, "I want to plead Guilty, Your Honor."
The judge replied, "Why didn't you do that sooner, like at the beginning of this trial?!"
"Because I thought I was innocent until I heard the prosecutor make his case just now."

But the fact is, that's true about EVERY prosecutor and article writer. Unless they are literally a moron (have an IQ of 51 - 70), they are going to make a convincing case on their own website -- their own home turf!

This goes for everyone with a normal IQ, no matter how much objective error they languish in.

We should keep this in mind as we search for the truth. We have to do a lot of "connecting the dots" ourselves to form the Big Picture, almost like a detective. It's not easy.

  • We need the grace of the Holy Ghost to guide us to the Truth. If you are sincerely seeking the Truth and ask God the Holy Ghost to guide you, He will!

And that's such a great point you are making. This is one phenomenon of the Internet Age that's going to imperil civilization and intellectual rational thinking even more.

Thinking that you will get more than a microdot in your lifetime of the "Big Picture" is I'm afraid utter earthly arrogance.

It's God's territory you are talking about!
