  • I was watching the Dimond Brothers video, Journey into Hell, after I committed my last mortal sin.

    http://www.youtube.com/user/mhfm1#p/a/f/0/efiJauhz664

and one of the things that caught my attention was St. Teresa of Avila stating that bad confessions are a cause of damnation for many catholics. This has me very worried. I am also thinking about St. John Bosco's visions of hell and how bad confessions was also mentioned. For the record I am a sedevacantist. I am worried that all the mortal sins I confessed in the Novus Ordo were invalid. I am worried that I have forgotten all the sins of my early childhood, since I didn't make my first confession until I was 20 years old. When I expressed all this anxiety about the first 20 years of my life to a SSPX priest in the confessional, he kind of brushed it off. But I am really worried about it. I am also worried that I have forgotten mortal sins on my soul.

I would also like to see the exact text in which St. Teresa of Avila is referring to bad confessions. It would really help me.

  • Consider making a general confession:  "A general confession", says St. Francis de Sales, "is for the majority of Christians a necessary means of salvation. It gives us a more complete knowledge of our- selves; it fills us with a wholesome shame at the sight of our sins; it relieves our mind of much anxiety and gives peace to our conscience; it excites in us good resolutions; it shows us God's wonderful patience and mercy towards us; it enables our confessor to direct us more safely; and, finally, it so dilates our heart, that we are ever after able to make our confession with greater confidence."

What you do is sit down and write down all the sins of your life, even those you already confessed.  You have to be diligent and honest.  Let the priest know you are going to make a general confession.  After you have made this, all your sins are forgiven included the ones you forgot to mention.  If you remember a sin later on, you do not need to confess it because in a general confession, all your sins are forgiven provided you were honest about trying to remember.
    Please pray for my soul.

  • If you confessed the sins you did remember with sincerity and you truly don't remember some of your childhood sins; your sins are already forgiven. Everyone commits sins that either we don't remember or don't recognize. That is why you say in the confessional "I am sorry for these sins and any I may have forgotten". If you do remember a past sin that has been unintentionally unconfessed, just be sure to mention it next time.

    here's a tip for you:

Avoid the internet. Why on earth are you turning to Youtube for spiritual consolation and guidance? The main sources of that video by the Diamonds is 1) Preparation for Death by Saint Alphonsus and 2) The Four Last Things by Fr. Martin von Cochem. You can purchase unedited copies of both for little over $20. Buy those, along with the Imitation of Christ or some other book that focuses on growing spiritually in the interior life rather than the harsh judgements of God. And get off the internet.
