  • I understand.
The answer is still: they're not.

As explained above, the ten commandments are a whole.  Digress on one and you digress on all.

The severity of a sin is based on the sin itself: mortal and venial.

Gravity applies to the severity of a sin, not the ordrr of the commandments.

    I hope this is clearer.
Okay, can you explain to me how Satanism (against 1st commandment) can be more grave than abortion (5th commandment) then, if all the commandments are of equal importance?
It would seem to be that what is lacking is a differentiation between the immediate and final end of each commandment, where idolatry is a graver sin since its immediate end is the dethronement of God, while murder has an immediate end not against God but against one's neighbour, and has as a final end an offence against the Providence of God.
"When human beings have been brutalised by impurity, they will allow themselves to be enslaved without making any attempt to react." ~ Fr. Fahey

Because the sin of satanism is a more grave sin that the sin of abortion.  Has nothing to do with the order of the commandments.
You got it in your second sentence.  Satanism is a sin directly against Our Lord while abortion is only against a human.

  • According to the soul in Purgatory, chosen souls who ignore Our Savior are worse than those who are loud and vocifourous in their atheism and hatred of Our Lord.
