Does anyone know if this place is SSPX, sede, tolerant of Sedes, or what? I'm confused and if anyone in the DC area knows that would be nice as I visited it recently.
-
I have been there, although I do not live in that area. If I did, I would go and just take care of business, so to speak. Fr Ringrose is NOT sede, but I spoke to the folks who run the school about teaching there, and they knew I see the crisis differently than he does. It did not bother them.
Good folks...nice place...go, get what you need...
If you want me to ask around about other options, I can. I know there might be some, but I do not know them off the top of my head.
-
Eamon, thank you! I knew it that the place wasn't full on. Just got to get what I need as you said so eloquently.
Please do let me know if you got any more ideas for the area. I'm out in western VA so its a little haul to DC but worth it. Any pretty Churches that allow us types?

Fr. Ringrose received conditional ordination from Archbishop Lefebvre.

I heard something about it having a stained glass window of Abp. Lefebvre. Did you notice?

Indulging in a bit of speculation are we? :laugh2:

Not at all. I was told by about it some time ago by person who saw the church. I was now asking a person who saw the church recently. Can you grasp the difference? :laugh2:
Are you itching for an argument?

One saw it...some time ago...while the other saw it...recently.
Indeed, the difference seems clear enough...as does the similarity, oddly enough. Thank you :)

I do not know what you are getting at.
One person I know saw the church a while ago and the saw the stained glass window. I am asking Partytisover who visited the church recently if he or she saw it. Perhaps it has been removed or perhaps Party did not notice it.
Do you mind me asking for some reason?

I was just having some fun with the flow of your other post.

Hey RC, I'll look for it next time I go there. Ok?

Ok, it will be interesting to see if it's still there.

I guess my question would be, IF there is a stained glass image of Abp. LeFebvre at the chapel, (or there was one) what does this mean?
Is it a good thing? Neutral? Or just plain weird and cult-like? And how will we know the answer?

I too live in the area and I am looking for a real Traditional Mass. The Church I've been attending only performs the NO mass in Latin/the priest celebrates the Eucharist facing toward the altar, and all of this is a step in the right direction certainly, but I'm more interested in a Mass in which I can fully use my 1962 Roman Missal.
If anyone has any suggestions, they'd be appreciated.

You live in what area? The area in and around Washington DC? Go to St. Athanasius in Vienna, VA.
-
I have been blessed to attend St Athanasius Church in Vienna Virginia for a quarter century. The parish priest for those years has been the holy and dedicated Father Ronald Ringrose. Indeed one of the stained glass windows is dedicated to Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre and Bishop Antonio de Castro Mayer. Unlike the figures depicted in the other beautiful windows, these two churchmen do not have halos surrounding their heads; one day they will.

Welcome, DAW, and thank you for providing solid info on this matter.

Yes, thank you for verifying.

I had an otherwise Traditional lady tell me "The Chancery said you don't fulfill your Sunday obligation at St. Athanasius. Their priest is a renegade and not incardinated in the diocese."
Obviously there are many responses to this, but if you only had a few seconds to respond, what would your response be?

Here is a response I received from the diocese via email:
Thank you for your question.
"Saint Athanasius Roman Catholic Church" is an independent group; they are not a church in communion with the Roman Catholic Church or the Diocese of Arlington. The priest does not have faculties from the Diocese of Arlington.
If you are interested, a number of our diocesan parishes celebrate Mass according to the Extraordinary Form - some on Sundays, some on weekdays. If you live in Vienna, I believe you will probably find St. John the Beloved in McLean to be the most convenient, although St. Lawrence and Holy Spirit might also be good options for you.
-
I would expect nothing less from the Diocese, though Arlington is better than most.
Did the Diocese deign to tell you WHY it does not grant Fr. Ringrose faculties?
And how they have determined that St. Athanasius is not in communion with the Roman Catholic Church?
That is quite an incredible statement.
