I thought I'd start the opening thread on this discussion, as I'm sure there's going to be plenty of speculation on this in the coming days.
When I started to think about who Benedict's successor will be, I started to groan in my mind at each person that I thought of. Imagine, if you will, one of these jokers ascending to the Papal Throne:
