  •   That notorious book was published here, some say that it is no longer published. I don't know for sure.
But my mother bought it. I tried to tell her that it was a bad book. She agreed with me that davinci code was unreal and imaginary, but said that it was a good "fiction book".
So, trying to convince her that the book is blasphemous, I told her that it contained something about Christ's marriage to a former prostitue.
My mom knew that such a thing never happend, nevertheless she said:" What is blasphemous about that?  Christ could marry if He wanted, and marrying a woman who has repented sincerely is not sinful."
How can I convince her that it is not only an unreal fiction, but also a blasphemy?

  • Ask her if she would want to read a good "fiction book" that states evil things about her mother or father? Also, wouldn't such a book also be considered blasphemous in Islamic societies as well?
    Pray for me, always.

  • Mohammedanism honours Jesus Christ as the greatest of the prophets after Mahomet. Why isn't this book banned there?

Also Mohammedanism teaches that when Christ comes again He will marry and have children, so wouldn't it be immoral if He already had children with a woman before that?

Even if your mother is a Mohammedan, she should reject this book as blasphemy since you can also commit the sin of blasphemy by blaspheming God's prophets (of course, Jesus Christ IS God, but your mother doesn't believe that).

Iran Im told is quite a "liberal" Islamic society. Its far from from being Saudai Arabia anyway.

    Spouse is your mother Catholic?

  • I don't think Mary Magdalene was really a prostitute.  She was the sister of Martha, from a good family, right?  She was probably more like a spoiled party girl.

Where did this idea come from that she was a prostitute?  Is there even a shred of Biblical evidence for that?
Readers: Please IGNORE all my postings here. I was a recent convert and fell into errors, even heresy for which hopefully my ignorance excuses. These include rejecting the "rhythm method," rejecting the idea of "implicit faith," and being brieflfy quasi-Jansenist. I also posted occasions of sins and links to occasions of sin, not understanding the concept much at the time, so do not follow my links.

  •   I have heard that this book is banned. My mother is rather a nominal moslem who keeps the faith but disobeys her religion in most of her actions.
Perhaps her definition of blasphemy is different from that of us. A book can be banned here because it contains "unreal claims", or "things with no basis in reality", but the word 'blasphemous' is used only when a book, a film etc. says dirty and sinful things about holy people.

Spouse are there still Nestorians in Iran?

Is it true that their Liturgy has only the invocation of the Holy Ghost over the gifts and no consecration?

  •   I have hread about them, but haven't seen them.
But actually, Churches are kind of mess here. Everybody goes to any church he wants, and sometimes liturgies are mixed and include everything in order to please everybody.
