I heard about this program a couple of weeks ago (probably an online ad?). I didn't look at it extensively because we're already members of a different one, but I did look around their website and saw one aspect that I'd not seen in the other programs.
It's something they call HealthTrac. If they decide you have to join, it's an extra $80 per month, and, personally, I think that's a significant amount of money along with a significant burden for services that I know I could get free of charge in my local community if I needed them.
I agree. In the case of my family, none of the conditions apply. On the other hand, if you have one of the conditions, your healthcare costs are likely to be higher, so this doesn't burden everyone that doesn't have a condition that can be changed through lifestyle changes.
What I did like is that while yes, some others don't have this HealthTrac, they will have 500+ dollar per incident charge, so you pay for everything nearly every time you go to the doctor, unless you go over your per incident amount.
After researching several of them, I don't think there is one that is THE BEST for everyone. Each family may have completely different needs. For my family, this one will work well. I have full coverage insurance through my work for me only. If I cover my wife, it is $500, for a baby, it is $810 dollars. That is for a HSA plan that has a $4,000 deductible and a $6,000 max out of pocket. So, I would be paying 810 dollars a month, and then pay 4k before it covers anything, and would be 6k (again on top of the 4k during years we have a baby, because we'd obviously hit the max out of pocket those years). So under their plan, I can cover my wife and baby for $224 a month, and after $1,000 (deductible and max out of pocket in this case) everything is covered. I have regular insurance right now for my wife, and as a result, I will be paying a very large max out of pocket amount for the baby. After the baby is born, I will put them both on this Solidarity program. It seems like it will be much more cost effective for me.
