  • ... and I'll need your prayers over the next 3 weeks because where I'm going I will have no access to the trad Mass. Yes, that's right. This place will have no trad Mass. Because I'll be leaving on Sunday morning, I won't be able to fulfill my Sunday obligation with a trad Mass. I have no choice but to go to the Novus Ordo..  :scared2:

My mother didn't tell me that she would screw me like this...  :really-mad2:

I'll also need some things to read, as there's no way I'm going to make it through 3 weeks with nothing. I'm not sure if I'll even have access to the internet from where I'll be and if I will, there's a good chance I'll be limited which means no CI.

I let my mother get me into this simply because I haven't gone on a vacation anywhere in years. Maybe I'd be happy about this if my soul weren't in danger. I'm going to be deprived of Holy Communion for 3 whole weeks. Oh my

    Kyrie Eleison...

  • I'll be praying for you , friend, but a Novus Ordo mass for your requirement?

You are under no penalty of sin to attend a Novus Ordo mass. That isn't a Mass.

Can anyone else chime in as well?

  • Are you sure there isn't a Latin Mass anywhere near you while you're there? I could try to find one for you, if you haven't already looked.

No, I've looked. I am going to a place where there is less than a handful of churches and all of them are Novus Ordo.

  • You have no obligation to go to the Novus Ordo.

    Period.

Read your missal, and "keep the sabbath holy." That's what you do. And "keeping the sabbath holy" does not include attending a "service" that's going to put you in the occasion of sin. That's what the Novus Ordo does to me. It doesn't feed my soul like the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass does.

It's a protestant service. Don't go. Read your missal, and say some extra prayers.  They'll profit you more than any Novus Ordo will.
    Matthew 5:37

But let your speech be yea, yea: no, no: and that which is over and above these, is of evil.

  • I'll pray for you, no doubt. And as others have said, you have no obligation to attend the Novus Ordo what-so-ever. It's not Catholic, so avoiding it isn't sinful. If your parents encourage you to attend, you actually don't have to. Parental authority becomes moot if they try to get you to do something that isn't good for your soul.

  • As far as not receiving Communion, you can actually make a Spiritual Communion and receive just as many graces.

  • If your parents force you to go, don't complain. View it as enduring a dry martyrdom for the Faith, and do not participate. Just sit in the pew, and say a Rosary for your parents' conversion.

It is likely that she does not even realize there is any kind of problem.

Relax, pray, and trust in God to show you the right way to conduct yourself in all things.  He never sends us more than we can handle, provided we rely upon Him and not ourselves.

  • I'll be praying for you, Daegus.

     Be the Steadfast Soldier!

Say the consecration prayer to the Blessed Mother every morning along with the Rosary.
These are the weapons you will be needing to fight in that pagan battlefield.

Two paragraphs from "True Devotion To  The Blessed Virgin" by St. Louis de Montfort

    56. But what will they be like, these servants, these slaves, these children of Mary? They will be ministers of the Lord who, like a flaming fire, will enkindle everywhere the fires of divine love. They will become, in Mary's powerful hands, like sharp arrows, with which she will transfix her enemies. They will be as the children of Levi, thoroughly purified by the fire of great tribulations and closely joined to God. They will carry the gold of love in their heart, the frankincense of prayer in their mind and the myrrh of mortification in their body. They will bring to the poor and lowly everywhere the sweet fragrance of Jesus, but they will bring the odour of death to the great, the rich and the proud of this world.

    57. They will be like thunder-clouds flying through the air at the slightest breath of the Holy Spirit. Attached to nothing, surprised at nothing, troubled at nothing, they will shower down the rain of God's word and of eternal life. They will thunder against sin, they will storm against the world, they will strike down the devil and his followers and for life and for death, they will pierce through and through with the two-edged sword of God's word all those against whom they are sent by Almighty God.

    God speed young soldier,

    sheep
