Here's what I don't get- when I think of a black, or a Mexican, or a White guy, not involved in criminal behavior- I think of them walking around in 'normal' pants, not baggy; I don't think of them walking around in 'hoodies' with hoody covering their head (like Trayvon Martin), but with a normal sweater; I don't think of them just walking aimlessly around the street, but 'walking with a purpose'.
What really 'grinds my gears' is that these people associate themselves, via their deportment and dress, with how 'gangsta's' act. Then, they are mad when you actually stereotype them with criminals- well if it quacks like a duck, walks like a duck, and acts like a duck.... but these people are apparently too stupid to get that.
My dad, who is lebanese and would be considered a racist by most people standards for his criticism of American blacks, has a very peculiar history; when he owned his produce market, one of his best friends was a black man. Actually, he was a Catholic black man; Cornelius King; God rest his soul, I'll never forget him. The strongest 70 year old man I'd ever met- he was as strong as a 40 year old, and looked no older than a day over 50. My dad isn't a racist- he's a human being, and will and should be able to criticism a people as a whole, if the majority of them act like bafoons. This doesn't mean he should have to give his daughters over to them (never mind what some people here tell you), or never be friends with any of them.
Does this mean there's no such thing as a racist? Nope- surely there are people who are actually hateful against other human beings based on their skin color and race- Protestants are infamous of this, as are many Catholics who are sympathetic to their ideas. But using a basic human instinct- like gathering information about a population (human, animal, plant, etc) and making a general determination on it is not racism; its human nature.
