Just to warn you.

About 10:10 CDT.

I like to backup the main CathInfo database (all the posts) every so often, so we will never "lose everything".

The database is about 55 MB (compressed), which takes me about 10 minutes to download.

For some reason, while I'm downloading it, the site refuses all connections to the database, so the board can't be used during that time.

That's amazing. You've been up, how long? Over 5 years? And, all of our posts are only 55 MB? What is amazing is the 10-minute download time!

It took more like 15 min.

It's 189 MB uncompressed.

And that's just text -- no formatting. This isn't a Word docuмent. Formatted docuмents take up much more space.

Have you ever seen 189 MB of plain text? I think the Encyclopedia Brittanica -- if it were plain text -- would be less than that.

And I think my Internet is the slowest of anyone on here -- unless there are members who still use dial-up.

512 Kbps anyone? (that's what I have)

I generally connect at 26 bps. On real good days, I get 28.6 bps.
