  • Tele had recommended this book some time ago when we were discussing the Jєωs.

I'm finally getting to the book by Sir Richard Burton. I was doing some background on Burton himself and am trying to figure out what kind of man he was. Not to say he wasn't very interesting, because he seemed remarkable in his accomplishments- what an adventurous fellow!

But as far as his religion; it seems his wife was Catholic, but he was far from it. Are we able to still give him credibility? Or, does his lack of faith remove any sort of credibility for the Catholic reader?

What's funny, is I found this archived NY Times review on the book from 1989 which was essentially trying to discredit all of his works, especially this one, but the one on his trip to Mecca, based on 'eccentricity' that developed into 'mental acridity'. I hardly give it any weight though, considering the Jєωs were powerful even in the late 19th century. But here it is:

  • Right, he wasn't Catholic.  For some people that increases his scholarly credibility for some people (very few in this day and age) it reduces it.  Anyway, most of his work on the Jєωs (which covers the Damascus Trial) is still under lock and key, owned by a Jєωιѕн organization.  Richard F. Burton is an undisputed genius and he was not a partisan of Christianity.  So he can't be written off as a "religious kook."

As for those Jєωs who wish to discredit his work (while others keep most of it hidden) as "antisemitism" (apparently something that makes Jєωs look bad is never to be admitted as having the possibility of being truthful), he predicts the Jєωs are going to suffer the sort of thing that happened to them in the Middle Ages, and he explains the things they are doing that is bringing such a fate down on their heads.

Too bad most Jєωs don't listen and don't want to listen!

  • As for the New York Times, it was bought by Adolph Ochs, a Jєω, in 1896.

The criticism about the section about the Jєωs is of course worthless, the equivalent of something written by the SPLC in this day and age.

    Interesting, but very sad.

Here's a sad account on Simon of Trent:

    1475. Simon of Trent:

"In the year 1475, when the Jєωs of Trent met in their ѕуηαgσgυє on Tuesday in Holy Week, to deliberate preparations for the approaching festival of the Passover, which fell that year on Thursday following, they came to a resolution of sacrificing to their inveterate hatred of the Christian name, some Christian infant on the Friday following, or Good Friday.

“A Jєωιѕн physician undertook to procure such an infant for the horrid purpose. And while the Christians were at the office of Tenebrae on Wednesday evening, he found a child called Simon, about two years old, whom by caresses and by showing him a piece of money, he decoyed fromt he door of a house, the master and mistress whereof had gone off to Church, and carried him off.

“On Thursday evening the principal Jєωs shut themselves up in a chamber adjoining to their ѕуηαgσgυє, and at midnight began their cruel butchery of this innocent victim. (Ed. Note, Did not Christ say to the Jєωs, 'This is your hour, and the power of darkness'). having stopped his mouth with an apron to prevent his crying out, they made several incisions in his body, gathering his blood in a basin. Some, all this while, held his arms stretched out in the form of a cross; others held his legs.

“The child being half dead, they raised him to his feet, and while two of them held him by the arms, the rest pierced his body on all sides with their awls and bodkins. When they saw the child had expired, they sung round it: 'In the same manner did we treat Jesus the God of the Christians; thus may our enemies be confounded forever.'

“The magistrates and parents making strict search after the lost child, the Jєωs hid it first in a barn of hay, then in a cellar, and at last threw it into a river. But God countered all their endeavors to prevent the discovery of the fact, which being proved upon them, with its several circuмstances, they were put to death, the principal actors in the tragedy being broken upon the wheel and burned.

“The ѕуηαgσgυє was destroyed, and a chapel was erected upon the spot where the child was martyred. God honored this innocent victim with many miracles. The relics lie in a stately tomb in St. Peter's Church at Trent; and the name occurs in the Martyrology."
    .htm](Quoted from here)

    Wikipedia says:
    Quote

The Pope removed Simon from the Calendar of Saints in 1965. Simon of Trent does not appear in the new Roman Martyrology of 2000, nor on any modern Catholic calendar.

Sadly, I don't find this hard to believe; offending our 'Elder Brothers' would be too much...

  • The flagrant offense was the destruction of his shrine and disposal of his body.  The body of the little martyr was intact in the 19th Century and examined for its wounds.

    Jєωs Protest Sacrifice Tale

    on Oprah Show

                                     Chicago Tribune, 5/7/89

                                                                 New York Times News Service

"Hundreds of television viewers and the leaders of several Jєωιѕн and civil liberties organizations have protested allegations on a popular talk show last week that some Jєωs practice ritual killing of children.

The allegations were made by a guest using the pseudonym Rachel on 'The Oprah Winfrey Show,' a widely viewed syndicated talk show.

"The Jєωs are more subject to diseases of the nervous system than the other races and peoples among which they dwell. Hysteria and neurasthenia appear to be most frequent. Some physicians of large experience among the Jєωs have even gone so far as to state that most of them are neurasthenic and hysterical." (The Jєωιѕн Encyclopedia, Vol. IX, (1905), p. 225)

"Idiocy and imbecility are found comparatively more often among Jєωs than among non-Jєωs...The Mongolian type of idiocy is also very frequently observed among Jєωs... Among the Jєωs the proportion of insane has been observed to be very large...Jєωs are more liable to acute psychoses of early age than are non-Jєωs." (The Jєωιѕн Encyclopedia, Vol. VI, (1904), p. 556, 603-04)

THE WOMAN TOLD WINFREY THAT SHE HAD WITNESSED THE RITUAL SACRIFICE OF CHILDREN AND HAD BEEN A VICTIM OF RITUALISTIC ABUSE.

THE GUEST ALSO SAID OF SUCH PRACTICES: ‘THERE’S OTHER Jєωιѕн FAMILIES ACROSS THE CONTRY. IT’S NOT JUST MY FAMILY.’ The assertions were made during a program that focused on the cult murders of at least 13 people whose bodies were found last month near Matamoros, Mexico. The woman's comments provoked hundreds of angry phone calls and letters to Jєωιѕн and civil liberties groups, spokesmen for the groups said in interviews late last week. Jeffrey Jacobs, the chief operating officer of Winfrey's production company,

Harpo Productions Inc., denied Winfrey had acted irresponsibly in broadcasting the interview since she had emphasized on the show that the guest spoke only for herself. He added that Winfrey and her producers would meet with representatives of the Jєωιѕн and civil liberties groups next week in Chicago, where the show is taped. Winfrey was traveling Friday, Jacobs said, and was unavailable for comment. Early in the interview Winfrey said, 'This is the first time I have heard of any Jєωιѕн people sacrificing babies, but anyway ‑‑ so you witnessed the sacrifice?'

The woman responded: 'Right. When I was very young, I WAS FORCED TO PARTICIPATE IN THAT, and WHICH I HAD TO SACRIFICE AN INFANT.’ The guest was repeatedly identified by Winfrey as being Jєωιѕн. AT ONE POINT, THE WOMAN ASSERTED THAT {Jєωιѕн} RITUAL SACRIFICES OCCURRED IN OTHER Jєωιѕн CAMILIES AROUND THE COUNTRY AND THAT THEY WERE KNOWN TO THE POLICE."

  • Of all the horrible things the Jєωs have done over the ages, the fact that some groups of them have committed ritual murders is not what angers me about the ritual murder issue.  There are horrible atrocities committed by many peoples throughout history.  It is the manner in which the apologists for Jєωry treat like garbage and fanatics those who recognize the truth about the matter.

  • You know, reading this book is almost apocalyptic.

Burton is right now talking about the "day-dream of the Jєω" to return the Holy Land to the Isrealites. He mentions their perpetual prayer on the Sabbaths to "gather the dispersed, the united people of isreal from the four corners of the earth." Burton states that though it is a mere formula, the formula "is still perpetually repeated."

"Still, with six millions of souls, which will presently become nine, there can be no difficulty in finding volunteers like those who now garrison for the four Holy Cities- Jerusalem and Hebron, Tiberias and Safed. A single million of souls would give the isrealite complete command over the Land of Promise in the widest acceptation of the term, and it will not be long before this number can be contributed.

    This is the 1870s!

Its interesting to note, that if "six million™" actually did die in WWII Germany, it would essentially be, according to this logic, numerically impossible to establish Isreal!

Whats truly prophetic, in the way I see it, is he calls Russia "the lion in the path" of this plan. That she is believes "with childish ardour" in extending the "field of proselytism, of religion." He continues, "She [Russia] finds the headquarters of Christianity necessary to the full development of her religious superiority."

It makes sense to me that ʝʊdɛօ-inspired Communism brought the downfall of Russia, and spread its errors through her....

  • Yes, and that Russia will convert to Catholicism... God will bring good out of evil, using the sufferings Russia underwent to break their schismatic pride and return them to the true fold.

Of course, even many of the Jєωs convert at the end, which truly is the ultimate act of supreme mercy on God's part.

  • It's good to know that in-between marrying Elizabeth Taylor and starring in campy films, Burton had time to write about the Jєωs

  • I think there is a problem when Catholics fixate on the Jєωs though.

We see Catholics who fixate on St. Simon Trent, but St. Joan of Arc was roasted by her own people, how many use this to rant and rave about the English Catholics?

Jєωιѕн perfidy, Jєωιѕн manipulation of the media, how they're using nations they own to get Israel, things like this, should all be pointed out, but each person should consider his own soul and see if there is hatred there, because if there is, he isn't going to help matters.  In their blindness, the Jєωs are doing things that are beyond awful, but we are all sinners, all capable of great evil unless we humble ourselves.  Hopefully that isn't too treacly; and again, I'm not saying Jєωιѕн cօռspιʀαcιҽs shouldn't be discussed.
