Prior to the 1960's when stainless steel eating utensils became popular, people ate with silver coated or sterling silver utensils.
Coins were made of silver and carried in your pocket where you touched them throughout the day.
Silver nitrate was put in the eyes of newborns to kill gonorrhea
Silver coins were put in animals watering troughs to kill bacteria.

Silver kills over 600 different bacteria and viruses.

Should each member of our families have their own set of silver eating utensils and an ounce or at least 1/2 ounce of silver in their pocket?

The internet has many articles on the benefits of silver.

It should be in every survivalists kit.

Everyone should have colloidal silver liquid. You can buy different strengths 10PPM, 15PPM, 20PPM and 30PPM.

You can buy a colloidal silver maker . I have a Silver Gen. I routinely make colloidal silver.

My mother's sterling silver utensils were pretty old, and they showed the wear.

I guess a lot of users got the benefit of the material that wore off of them over the years! I remember polishing them so maybe I got an extra dose that way. When sterling is polished well it shines bright and looks great. And the feel of solid silver in the hand when you're eating is second to none. You tend to take longer to dine when using them. Hot tea or coffee heats up the spoon so fast it's kind of hard to believe.

As I recall we used them on special occasions, like Christmas, Easter and All Saints' Day, but not birthdays.

Yes, silver has too many unsung health benefits to count. My husband has used it for years for various ailments, and we've been looking into making our own. It's pretty simple I hear.

I have a machine called Silver gen. It makes a quart at a time. It makes 10PPM to 15PPM. Its safe and effective. If you can buy a machine, you can make gallons of it for emergencies and for friends and family. Silver gen is on the web.

Faucet handles and door knobs used to all be made of copper (bronze/brass, etc.). Copper has bee proven scientifically to quickly kill nearly all viruses and bacteria. So that's why kids are always getting sick in schools anymore, since the vast majority of these things are spread by using the faucet handles in the bathrooms and turning door knobs.

Copper and copper alloy surfaces have a kill rate of over 99.99% (against both viruses and bacteria) within about an hour.
