Many of my "conservative" associates are debating, or rather agreeing, that Mrs. Obama should not have covered her head. "No King of another country is going to tell me what to wear."

The argument was made that they didn't have time. I think it is pretty lame excuse considering that stylists fly with them in order to clothe and style them.

I was the only one who argued that she should have followed the custom of the country or otherwise stayed home.

  • "When in Rome..." Of course, the Obummers are a long way from "Rome." Anyway, I think she should've covered just out of respect for her hosts. Having said that, expecting her to dress close to anything resembling a lady is out of the question. Women's lib, pantsuits, and all that BS.
"This principle is most certain: The non-Christian cannot in any way be Pope. The reason for this is that he cannot be head of what he is not a member. Now, he who is not a Christian is not a member of the Church, and a manifest heretic is not a Christian, as is clearly taught by St. Cyprian, St. Athanasius, St. Augustine, St. Jerome, and others. Therefore, the manifest heretic cannot be Pope." -- St. Robert Bellarmine

  • I would tend to agree that a woman should veil in Saudi Arabia. But since Mrs. O is not a woman, I say no harm no foul.

    Good point  :laugh2:
If anyone says that true and natural water is not necessary for baptism and thus twists into some metaphor the words of our Lord Jesus Christ" Unless a man be born again of water and the Holy Spirit" (Jn 3:5) let him be anathema.

  • Although I generally oppose the Obamas in most of what they do, I was pleased to see that Michelle Obama wore a black veil when she went to visit the Pope a while ago.
    R.I.P.
Please pray for the repose of my soul.

  • I think that the wife of Obama should have covered her head but not for the reason that yuo might think. The Muslims didn't come up with the idea that women should wear veils becaise Mohammed thought of it. They learned it from St Paul. It was St Paul who said that women should cover their heads.

5 But any woman who prays or prophesies with her head unveiled brings shame upon her head, for it is one and the same thing as if she had had her head shaved. 6 For if a woman does not have her head veiled, she may as well have her hair cut off. But if it is shameful for a woman to have her hair cut off or her head shaved, then she should wear a veil.

St Paul's First Letter to the Corinthians 11:5-6
