Quite frankly, this feeding frenzy is a bit uncalled for. Does roscoe *really* need to be banned? If you want to take it realistically, SpiritusSanctus (the user not the 3rd person) has probably commited more offensive sins to God than a real satanist - as a traditional Catholic, SS has been given more graces than a satanist (most likely at least) which makes his sins more offensive.

Roscoe makes significant contributions (occasionally) and boasts perhaps the greatest seniority among regularly posting members.

While the post in question was perhaps uncalled for, I have said far worse things on this forum that I am ashamed of and deeply regret. I can only pray that my foolish words will not delude some poor soul into falling into the same hellish beliefs that I did. If only we could take back our words after we realize how foolish and impassioned they are...but they are already all public and recorded by God.
I've probably merited "banning" more often than roscoe actually.

But can't you just forgive him (with or without apology), SS? I can't imagine that this is really so offensive that you feel it necessary to leave.

It's good to remember that we will be judged for all our idle words.

If roscoe wants to call people Satanists and accuse them of great sins, perhaps he should focus on his own great sins. Allow me to quote from the "Jansenist" catechism.

Let roscoe be roscoe, and my advice to Spiritus is the same I give myself when I feel abused. I am no better than Our Lord who was so abused, unite your suffering with His, it helps, believe me.

I also read somewhere on this forum lately, from Matthew, something like: If you want to post on a forum, you have to be able to take some harsh words from time to time. Something like that.

Forget it, and stop demanding an apology. An apology is only an apology if freely given.

While were on the subject, I apologize to anyone and all if I have ever said something unkind to you, even if it was true. I shouldn't have said it.

Well, thanks for the replies everyone. Regardless of wether or not roscoe is banned, I won't leave. For one thing I'll be leaving on July 19th anyway (my surgery was re-scheduled on that day), and for another thing I love posting here too much. Even still, I expect an apology from roscoe, something I'm sure I won't get. And you know, I was charitable to him in the past. A week or two ago when he said he was ailing, I told him that despite our differences I'd pray for him. And yet this is what he gives me in return? He accuses me of worshipping satan, the greatest sin there is? I am still angry over it.

Vladimir, what's wrong with me expecting roscoe to apologize? If someone accused you of worshipping satan without any evidence what-so-ever to back it up, would you expect an apology or would you go "Oh, it's no big deal, let's just try to get along forget what was said". Roscoe has accused me of the most horrible sin there is all because I spoke negatively about his precious Beatles.

The definition of a Jansenist is somone who follows the heretical teachings of Cornelius Jansen, who believed there was no free will and that God chose who He would and would not save. I don't think I'll ever get used to people "expecting" an apology from anyone. Feel's so "generation y" to me. Hey- if they apologize, great- move on. And if they don't apologize, great- move on.

Many times expecting and demanding apology from a person actually prevents them from seeking your forgiveness imho

I can't laugh at the accusation I worship satan. I just can't. That is one serious accusation. I don't even want an apology anymore, roscoe won't give me one anyway. He'd be better off being banned.

Depends on what they and how anonymous the person being accused is.

That may be true in many cases, but saying things about a person can have serious consequences.

As for roscoe saying things about SS "tongue-in-cheek" or rather "joint in hand" - it is rather humorous.

For those who are wondering why Belloc no longer posts, I think it's actually because of roscoe. If you look at Belloc's last few posts, he was clearly fuming that roscoe was still here. Because of him, Belloc no longer posts on CatholicInfo. What an outrage. Belloc, I really hope you return one day.
