  • That article (above) is scary, especially when it comes to debt from medical bills. The whole system is insane -- a person without "good insurance" from his place of employment can just forget it.

    The woman in the article who went into debt for her grandchild's college education -- that doesn't scare me. I won't be doing stupid stuff like that. She's a doting grandparent, so too bad for her. She should know better than to spoil a grandkid at her own expense that way.

    Same for those who went into debt for vacations, etc. but it sounds like a lot of it is outside their control. Especially illness and medical expenses. That could be anyone!
