CathInfo doesn't accept credit cards (or Social Security numbers) or any other sensitive information. I don't recommend you post anything sensitive on CathInfo.
I can't justify the $100 a year for an SSL certificate so that everyone's debates about Sedevacantism, CMRI, SGG, and BoD can be 256-bit encrypted as they travel over the network.
I mean, who cares if a hacker reads these posts. He can type in
www.CathInfo.com and read the same thing!
And hacking into a CathInfo account isn't exactly a huge accomplishment. Not exactly a big target. All Andy (or anyone else) would have to do is e-mail me and say they were hacked -- I'd reset their password and they'd be as good as new. The hacker can only "sniff" your password if he happens to be listening to your segment of the Internet when you log in. But how often do most of us log in? Once every couple weeks?
To sniff network traffic, don't you have to have access to the physical router or ethernet cable? You can't just listen to the Internet "in general" or you're only going to hear what's going on near your part of the plumbing.
