The corners of brick walls make great back scratchers!

If anyone is still on the subject of scapulars, I have a suggestion that will help anyone avoid going out without one.

Have you ever noticed at the end of the day that your scapular wasn't on and you didn't even know it and then you found it on the inside of your t-shirt or pajama shirt that you had taken off that morning?  The thought of getting into a car accident on the way to or from work or having a heart attack or whatever without my scapular on frightens me!

Just tie a knot in the front and the back of the scapular just far enough up so that your scapular won't come off accidentally when pulling a shirt off.  I'm sure plenty of Catholics here do this already, but I thought I'd mention it for those who haven't tried it yet.  I've been doing this since I was a kid.

Also, if you pin a medal or two on the front of your scapular, it'll help it to stay put and also help you to earn more graces.  I like wearing a miraculous medal (Medal of the Immaculate Conception) and also a St. Benedict medal on my scapular and when I go to bed at night I kiss them and invoke Our Blessed Mother and St. Benedict's help.

My scapular has a St.Benedict medal of decent weight to keep my scapular in place. It really helps me make sure I didn't forget to put back on my scapular after changing because all I have to do is feel for the medal to be sure it's there. Also I wear a chain with a Pardon Cross on it and it sometimes get's entwined with my scapular, but because the chain is shorter it helps secure my scapular even more since I can't as easily take it off.

The thought of being caught dead without my scapular is truly frightening.

When my mom died I didn't check the body for the scapular... They say if someone rejects God's help, by some supernatural means, the scapular will be ripped from their body.  Or they will throw it off like it's burning them.

I sort of want to know if she had it on or not, even if it reveals something that diminishes my already-slim hopes for her salvation.  I will say this -- I found a scapular in the bathroom laying around.  True, she had several.  But on the coroner's report, it didn't mention a scapular anywhere, and you would think those people are pretty thorough.

By the way, if anyone reading DOESN'T know what happened with my mom, let me just ask those who do know to not say anything.  I won't say it's binding under pain of sin or something, since the cat is out of the bag.  But I don't like to talk about it much.
