I found this website when I googled "traditional Catholic forum". It seems to be a traditional Catholic forum that the owner set up, but never started. There are not any posts and it says there is only 1 member, Administrator.

Does anyone know who started this forum and then abandoned it but still kept it online?
    R.I.P.
Please pray for the repose of my soul.

  • Hmm. Total one members. That's doing better than some abandoned forums.

I started a forum once that was abandoned. . .

Actually it was never really meant to be used. I simply put the software up to test it out, and linked to it off an obscure part of my obscure personal website. I thought maybe I'd make use of it someday, but actually completely forgot about.

I completely forgot about it, then one day, years later, I found it again. Oops! There it was.

Well no matter right? Then I took another look at it.

And it was a thriving community with over one hundred thousand members!

There were tons of posts and threads and all sorts of discussions. Everything under the sun. It was incredible! I had done nothing at all, just left it there. Lengthy threads, numerous subjects...

Somehow some folks had found it and took advantage of it, and then let others know about it?

You can imagine how shocked I was. What had happened?

     :stare: :surprised:

    . . .

    . . .

Bet some folks can guess what really had happened.
    Sincerely,

    Shin

  • That's a forum that John Lane started.  He talked about it on Bellarmine once, I'll put up the link if I find it.
"Be kind; do not seek the malicious satisfaction of having discovered an additional enemy to the Church... And, above all, be scrupulously truthful. To all, friends and foes alike, give that serious attention which does not misrepresent any opinion, does not distort any statement, does not mutilate any quotation. We need not fear to serve the cause of Christ less efficiently by putting on His spirit". (Vermeersch, 1913).
