  • What is the role of the bridesmaids and best man in a Traditional Wedding?

Can there be boys to be ringbearers?

Do the bridesmaids and best man stay in  the sanctuary during Mass because I saw in a NO that they do?

In short I want a traditional catholic wedding planner and tips.

Can there be violinists in the wedding?

How do you explain to the non trads about 'active participation' at a TLM?

  • I'm also wondering about the first kiss in the Church once you are married. Is that traditional or do I think it is normal because you always see it in movies. I know it is normal in the novus ordo.

I have been to two tradional weddings and I don't think I saw the couple kiss in the Church.

    What is the traditional practice?

active participation = receiving Holy Communion, joining in the prayers. But don't take my word for it, please look it up and don't cite an internet forum poster.

Violinists - yes. But ask the priest if he is OK with it. However,  much popular wedding music (i.e., Mendelssohn, Wagner, etc) really are not appropriate for liturgical use. Extra-liturgical, at your discretion. The canon (and gigue) in D Major is a wonderful piece, but maybe to overused and definitely almost never played correctly. also Schubert's ave maria, etc is not appropriate for liturgical use.

  • Cannon D is a very good choice :)

I have been to 1 Catholic wedding...and I was in the back and I'm short, so short of standing on the pews...I couldn't see much of anything. I don't recall them kissing either. Maybe someone on here is married and can let us know  :dancing:
