I think you may be registering "URI" as a urinary tract infection; hence your mention of cranberry juice. A URI, however, is an upper respiratory infection; i.e., a cold, tonsillitis, laryngitis, sinusitis—all those great old favorites. Being myself a full-bore alternative-medicine type, I can assure you that the only good cranberry supplements can do for such an infection is to spur fluid elimination. Of course, that's always a good thing when one is ill.
Bronchitis, like pneumonia and tracheitis, is actually a
lower respiratory infection—but it's still a long way from urinary infection territory, so there's no point in quibbling, especially with someone, like our Frances, who is likely to be coughing, experiencing chest pain and congestion, and feeling generally rotten.
