  • Anyone else notice the recent trend around here of new posters whose very first posts are new threads containing advertisements for other websites, or at least contain links to other websites (or possibly copied and pasted material from other websites)?

Whenever I see a new thread started by a user with a one post history containing a link to some other website, I immediately become suspicious.

Perhaps this trend is much older than I think and I'm only just now becoming aware of it?

  • The new guy tradcatknight has been spamming.  I noticed it on a thread I was participating in.  It had nothing to do with our topic.

Yes, he's the first (and most egregious) example of this recent trend that I noticed.

There are at least three others I find suspicious... One of them being this (decidedly lame) one:

    http://www.cathinfo.com/catholic.php/St-Peters-Basilica-Renamed-Tiber-Creek-Community-Church

And I think the newcomer who's currently giving us the hard sell of his "New Proof of God's Existence" (which he claims is an improvement of St. Thomas Aquinas' Quinque Viae!) also counts. Although he's not plugging a website, he has copy-pasted his allegedly brilliant OP in that thread and started an identical thread on CAF...

Worse by far than the silly and self-important Bannan, I believe, is the secretive gent in the Anonymous subforum (the Quo primum thread) who regards Gommar DePauw as a pawn and dupe of conciliar Freemasons. I have made no secret of the fact that I consider many CI commenters foolishly misguided, but this guy is something else again. His attitude toward those he deems insufficiently pure borders on the Cromwellian.

  • Before this thread talks about me, be aware that I am not a spammer.
I apologize for all rude, calumnious, uncharitable, and unchristian posts I have made, and I retract them.

I have seen that thread and I agree.

I wonder if he is the same "anonymous guest" who calumniated Archbishop Lefebvre and Padre Pio in the thread questioning the validity of the Archbishop's consecration.

Comforting to know, but you must realize that that's just the sort of thing a spammer would say (as Eric GaJєωski aka TradCatKnight did).

To wit, your very first post here (reproduced in full):

Hello. I assume most of you know who I am. I used to post over at SD, and currently run my own Catholic forum (Te Deum Forum) and my wordpress blog. I probably won't post here very much, but I figured I should have an account here nonetheless. I personally hold the Sedevacantist position, though I am friendly to the Siri thesis and the SSPX types.

Though, in your defense, you did not start a new thread just to post this advertisement, so that's something...

I'm not even SSPX.  But I have utmost respect for Archbishop Lefebvre, and I am appalled that that thread wasn't nipped early.

Agreed. BTNYC's surmise anent the baseless anti-Lefebvre thread certainly makes sense.
