Actually, we were allied with the Hurons from the beginning, when Samuel de Champlain and Pont-Gravé made an alliance with them at the great tabagie of 1608 on their voyage here, the same voyage on which Champlain founded Québec (city).  We later allied with many other tribes over the course of many generations and wars.
