Here is what I posted about General Franco a great while ago in a thread discussing Franco and other historical figures. It was in response to a great post authored by Cuthbert:

This is true, as attested by the Church herself.

Even the typical editions of the Missal duly approved by the Congregation of Sacred Rites for Spain allowed the Spanish hierarchy to pray for Franco with all the honor and pomp that was paid to the Christian Kings and Princes that reigned in happier ages.

For example, the Holy See allowed Spanish clerics to pray for Franco in place of the Holy Roman Emperor in the Admonitions and Prayers that follow the chanting of the Passion in Good Friday. This was continued even after the Restored Order of Holy Week omitted the prayer for the Holy Roman Emperor and replaced it with another prayer.

The following text is taken from Nueva Semana Santa completísima para uso de los fieles (Texto latin-castellano) compiled by Rev. Fr. Baltasar del Castillo, published at Barcelona, Spain, by Editorial Vilamala in 1957, with an Imprimatur by His Excellency Gregory, Archbishop of Barcelona (no date given).

Here is a rough translation of the text:

Let us pray for our Catholic Chieftain Francisco: that our Lord God may subject unto him all the barbaric nations (i.e., the puppets of Internationalist Marxists), unto our perpetual peace.

Oremus. --- ℣. Flectamus genua. ℟. Levate.

Almighty and everlasting God, in Whose hands are the all the powers and all the laws of kingdoms: do Thou graciously look upon the Spanish kingdom; that the heathen (i.e., the Internationalist Marxists) who trust in their own ferocity may be overcome by the power of Thy right hand. Through our Lord... ℟. Amen.

Maybe we should pray for the repose of his soul
he did some good things but he also did some bad things too.
He also tried to destroy the Basque identity and the Catalonian identity.

Generalissimo Franco defeated the bolchevicks, and then held his ground against the nαzι. He acted as a real Spaniard!

A little history: France had been defeated, and Adoph Hitler wanted Spain to allow the passage of the German troops through Spain in order to capture Gibraltar.
Hitler stood at the French/Spanish border in order to get permission from Franco. This is how the meeting took place: To begin Franco arrived 45 minutes late at the meeting. Then Franco, who was a genuine general, appeared not intimidated at all by Hitler, who, we all know had merely been a corporal. Franco explained to Hitler that Spain might fight invadors in the same way as it had fought the forces of Napoleon. As a result, Hitler back-off his demands.
Hitler was furious at this public humiliation, but Spain remained neutral during WW2, and later monarchy was restaured.

So wait a minute being a corporal and a runner, braving enemy fire, is somehow undignified compared to being a general nevermind Hitler being a decorated veteran?

And yeah what a great monarchy it has been eh? Spain was better off under Franco than any monarchs who are afirad to take to task the Leftists nowadays in Spain.

One last point I remember was how General Franco was disappointed that Spain lost Cuba to the United States but he was impressed that the Spanish were able to hold Cuba during the fight as long as they did since Spain had relatively fewer soldiers to defend it's land. Boy, everything the USA touches gets soiled!

This book comes highly recommended, it's author is admired by many and he has written quite a bit and there are lectures of his on youtube. I think he founded a university as well.

For the record, I know where it comes from. But I want to know if you know where it comes from or if you're just parroting something you read somewhere.

You are the man when it comes to Hitler, so enlighten us.

I always heard it said by my parents. So, now I looked it up online to see if it was true. I was told taught that Franco spent WWII making excuses to Hitler why Spain was not ready to get into the war. Thus "Hitler remarked that he would rather visit the dentist to have his teeth removed than have another meeting with Franco".
