Since the abortion bill a few people have been getting discouraged.
There is a constant temptation to get discouraged in our times. By all appearances we are losing on every front, everything is getting progressively more evil. Evil in the world is also growing more rapidly than in the past, and in the last few years it has been growing exponentially.
Whenever you get discouraged keep reminding yourself that despite appearances, God is in complete control. He is permitting this for His own reasons and we need to trust Him.
I believe that things are only going to spiral downward even faster, so we all need to brace ourselves in a complete abandonment of trust in God's Providence.
I am far from discouraged and agree with you. I firmly believe we are living among the ruins. I walked through a city the day after the vote on abortion. Mourning? Thousands praying the rosary? Every second person talking about the vote and lamenting?
No! My experience was nobody was talking about it on the streets, musicians were playing on the streets, people walked along with shopping bags, people sat outside restaurants having lunch.
Whilst there is apathy, people not saying something shouldn't be disregarded. G.K. Chesterton did speak of the Secret People.
All is not lost in Ireland. I'm not naive and saw the comments from TCAT?
A firmer type of Catholic militant will emerge. A new type of man. Precious Life, a pro-life group use a phrase I like. "Prayer Warriors". I see ourselves as Catholic Warriors, the soldiers of Christ.
Whilst Novus Ordo and hopefully we can ''tradify' him but Fr Maurice Colgan, a founder of Youth Defence believes we all need to be "blooded".
It's not a time to step off the battlefield.
