  • Some people have claimed that Traditional Catholics tend to be racist, and even make accusations against great men like Bishop Williamson! But just read the actual text from one of his letters. Here are the last two sentences from a famous letter of his:

...and if the white men still refuse to convert, let us pray for some great conversions amongst Jєωs, Muslims and blacks so that they may take over where the whites have left off, and may continue to show us the way to Heaven. So long as God is served, all honor to His servants, of any race, class or sex!

    Seems pretty non-racist to me!

It's very true that the liberal modern world is trying to break down all perceived "inequalities", which includes the distinction between sexes, races, etc. which are real and do exist.

There's nothing sexist about saying that men are designed for this or that, or that God meant women to do this and that! And there's nothing "racist" about saying that God made the races for different purposes. Remember, God was there during all of human history. He guided the tribes to settle here or there, etc. Providence is all-encompassing. It's mind-boggling to think of how high God is above us.

Think about it. God, who is far more intelligent than ANY of us can conceive, is capable of bringing about a beautiful harmony with MANY DIFFERENT PIECES. If fallen man can design a beautiful symphony with many different instruments, don't you think God can handle making a harmony using many different races?

It just takes a bit of "stop and think" ing. It's really not that difficult.

Even if it's true that white men have been somehow blessed by God, and chosen to spread the Gospel after the Jєωs fell away -- that doesn't mean that I, as a white man, can just sit back and boss everyone around. If I don't practice mortification (and other virtues) I will be a slave to sin, which is the worst degradation there is.

If I neglect to study, think, etc. I will not be a very good leader, either. We all need to mortify ourselves and practice virtue. Race doesn't make getting to heaven any easier. Maybe an Irishman has to work harder on anger, etc. but we all have strengths/weaknesses. They are just different.

Moreover, if I don't apply my talents to something useful, my judgement will NOT be pretty. "To whom more is given, more is expected..."

It should wake us to to make sure we're doing what God expects us to do. He doesn't give talents for nothing, or for frivolous purposes. Those with inventive minds should use that cleverness for the good of the Church. We need to be putting our talents to good use -- for souls, and for God's greater glory.

    In Christ,

    Matthew
