  • Is an ivory or off-white veil acceptable for a married lady?

What are the traditional prayers to end the Rosary with?

Traditionally (I know the shortage of priests likely influences this today out of necessity) was Sunday Mass supposed to occur before a certain time of day?

I ordered and should soon be receiving the SSPX Visitor Kit.  My wife and I have attended many Latin Masses now (now we're around 40% attendance TLM--please pray we get to 100%), but still have some difficulty following.  (Sometimes it comes easy and others we seem lost the whole time--and I don't think it's any difference--i.e., not High Mass, etc.).  Any suggestions or should reviewing the Visitor Kit help significantly?

I've seen getting assistance suggested elsewhere.  But my wife may freak out and feel like we are a spectacle getting help through Mass.  She's a convert and I remember she thought everyone could tell she wasn't Catholic and was staring at her the first several times she went to Mass with me.

What are the traditional prayers to end the Rosary with?

    1)

Hail, Holy Queen, Mother of Mercy,
our Life, our Sweetness, and our Hope.
To Thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve.
To Thee do we send up our sighs mourning
and weeping in this valley of tears.
    Turn then, most gracious Advocate,
Thine Eyes of Mercy toward us,
and after this our exile show us the
Blessed Fruit of thy Womb, Jesus.
O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary.
Pray for us O Holy Mother of God
That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.

    2)

O God, Whose only - begotten Son by His life, death, and resurrection, has purchased for us the rewards of eternal life; grant, we beseech Thee, that meditating upon these mysteries of the Most Holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary, we may imitate what they contain and obtain what they promise, through the same Christ, our Lord. Amen.

I don't know if you, yourself, say any prayers after each Glory Be, but there is the Fatima prayer, if you're interested:

O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of Hell: lead all souls to Heaven especially those in most need of thy mercy.

But having myself, been exposed to two versions of it, I combined them and I personally say

O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of Hell: have mercy on the souls in Purgatory, especially the most abandoned and lead all souls to Heaven especially those in most need of thy mercy.

You're free to do whatever you want though, there is no set rule for any of this.

Sometimes I'll include the Miraculous Medal prayer:

O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee.
    2 Corinthians 4:3-4

And if our gospel be also hid, it is hid to them that are lost, In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of unbelievers, that the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should not shine unto them.

I have seen old photos of congregants in the pews and many of the women seem to have been wearing light colored veils and many were clearly mothers and presumably married.

In addition to what was previously posted, if you say the rosary in a group, you should also pray some prayers "for the intentions of the Holy Father" in order to receive the indulgences attached.  One Our Father, Hail Mary, and Glory be will suffice, but it does not have to be these particular prayers.

It is my understanding that at one time all Masses had to begin before noon, local time.  This absolute prohibition was changed by Pope Pius XII (I think it was him), though even he did not even contemplate a time when the remnant few would have to celebrate Mass after that time due to the loss of the true Mass from the world.  I believe it was the Holy Ghost prompting the change forseeing the time the faithful would need flexibiltiy due to the apostasy in the Church.

I don't know what this is, so I can't comment on the specifics.  I will say, however, that you can increase your traditional Mass attendance to 100% by simply not attending the Novus Ordo ever again.  This is something completely within your control and prayers really aren't necessary.

Some people might be looking at you and your wife because your new there.  That is all.  You don't have to get "assistance" from anyone.  Just sit, stand, and kneel when everyone else does.

There is a DVD that helps to explain what is going on through the Mass called, The Most Beautiful Thing This Side of Heaven.  I'm sure if you search that phrase on the internet you can find a vendor who sells it.  The first traditional Mass I attended was confusing in a way and I found this video to help me understand what was going on throughout the Mass.  I found it particularly helpful.

  • My dear husband was a lutheran and he had no problem going from that to the traditional Latin Mass.   Tell your wife to focus more on Our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament and less on herself.

On Sunday at Mass the altar boy was about 8 years old and gave off those Latin responses as if he had been doing them his entire life.

Where there is a will, there is a way.

  •  I don't think there are any rules about color for veils.

Stir up within Thy Church, we beseech Thee, O Lord, the Spirit with which blessed Josaphat, Thy Martyr and Bishop, was filled, when he laid down his life for his sheep: so that, through his intercession, we too may be moved and strengthen by the same Spir

  • Another very common prayer to add after the Rosary is the Prayer to St Michael.

Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle; be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray: and do thou, O Prince of the heavenly host, by the power of God, cast into hell Satan and all the evil spirits who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.

  • It's simply a tradition for married women to wear darker veils, and for unmarried women to wear white ones.

    Not mandatory or anything.

I just wear hats. That takes the ambiguity out of the entire argument for me.  :laugh2:

Interesting.  I have never heard that before.
