  • I was recently reading the Book of Revelation, and was thinking about how some Traditionalists (most notably the Dimond brothers) hold firm to the confession that the Vatican II "sect" is  the great harlot that Saint John saw. But my objections are this: John says that he heard an angel say:

Rejoice over her, O heaven, and you saints and APOSTLES and PROPHETS, because God has pronounced judgment for you against her.

And in her was found the blood of prophets and of saints and of ALL WHO HAVE BEEN SLAIN ON EARTH.

How could Vatican II be guilty of this?

  • The Whore is the city that sits on seven hills, namely, Rome, as in the Rome that represents the authority and reign of Caesar Nero, who was the "beast" signified by 666 or 616, depending on which language his name was calculated from.

qsr nrw (roughly the English equivalent of the Hebrew consonants) equals 666 in Hebrew numerology. The same calculations applied to those consonants in Greek would equal 616.

Secular Rome is the Whore because it was under her authority that Ss. Peter and Paul were arrested and executed. Rome represented to the first-century reader of St. John's Apocalypse the epicenter of governmental and societal power and influence.

Holy Church was inaugurated at Pentecost in Jerusalem because the Gospel came both TO and FROM the Israelites first; the Church was established at Rome precisely because the Apostles shed their blood for the Faith there and because the Church's witness to the world included the Gentiles and no place better represented Godless paganism and debauchery than Rome under Nero.

Don't let the Dimond brothers or any of the Newchurch people who are infected with Protestantism fool you; St. John's vision was of the entire scope of salvation history, and the people and powers at Rome made for compelling representatives of spiritual truths.

Immaculate Heart of Mary, triumph soon!

Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us.
This evil of heresy spreads itself. The doctrines of godliness are overturned; the rules of the Church are in confusion; the ambition of the unprincipled seizes upon places of authority; and the chief seat [the Papacy] is now openly proposed as a rewar

  • BTW, remember, too, that the Whore is from MYSTERY BABYLON, which is called "a hold of every foul spirit and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird".

THAT certainly represents the pagans, criminals and perverts who are running Newchurch.

Those are the reasons the Voice St. John heard said "Come out of her, My people, that you be not partakers of her sins".

Immaculate Heart of Mary, triumph soon!

Most Sacred Heart of Jesus,  have mercy on us.

  • Interestingly there are seven kings mentioned during the time when the Whore is reigning and the righteous Woman has been caught away to safety... I wonder:

    1. John XXIII
    2. Paul VI
    3. John Paul I
    4. John Paul II
    5. Benedict XVI
    6. Francis I
    7. ???

Maybe there will be one last Conciliar antipope before the whole false thing comes crashing down?

No way do I ascribe to any of this to any great degree. Just trying to stimulate discussion.

If you want to understand the Catholic' Church's understanding of anything related to the Bible, you can't do better than to read the Haydock commentary.
Stir up within Thy Church, we beseech Thee, O Lord, the Spirit with which blessed Josaphat, Thy Martyr and Bishop, was filled, when he laid down his life for his sheep: so that, through his intercession, we too may be moved and strengthen by the same Spir

Nero is a type of the beast, a foreshadowing; there is a lot of symbolism and mystery in the Apocalypse. The Church has never taught that it's all as cut and dried as the above account would have it.
"Let us thank God for having called us to His holy faith. It is a great gift, and the number of those who thank God for it is small."

My favorite is the original Doway-Rhemes.

  • The Protestants want it to be Rome, but that doesn't mean they will be wrong. Dante likened the corrupt papacy of his time to the whore. Everybody, it seems, has used the Whore of Babylon as the thing they are opposed to in their day.

So, being aware of that possible bias, I consider Jerusalem to be correctly identified as the whore. If the prophecy were to apply to this very day, then I would say it is international zionist Jєωry, which calls Jerusalem home. It fits the bill quite well. (Tele, I think you are right ... but don't choke on your coffee reading this!)
