Question to Sedes

  • I have known some sedevacantists in the area that go to Ukranian Churches for sacraments.

    Why Ukranian?

What about receiving comunion in an Eastern Orthodox Church? They do have apostolic succesion but wouldn't that be prohibited?
If anyone says that true and natural water is not necessary for baptism and thus twists into some metaphor the words of our Lord Jesus Christ" Unless a man be born again of water and the Holy Spirit" (Jn 3:5) let him be anathema.

  • I also know of sedevacantists who go to Ukranian Catholic Churches. I was told that the Ukranian Catholic Churches are more traditional than the other Eastern Rite Churches. I don't know of any sedevacantists who go to Eastern "Orthodox" Churches. They are schismatic.
    R.I.P.
Please pray for the repose of my soul.

  • Ukrainian Catholics are relatively more conservative than the Ruthenians, whereas the Maronites and some others have gone off the deep end.  God likely preserved the valid sacraments and Catholic liturgy for them due to their suffering and martyrdom under Stalin.

  • For myself, CMRI provides the nearest source of the Sacraments, and for that, I am truly thankful.

  • Sedevacantist or no, worshiping at an Orthodox liturgy is strictly forbidden.
"Be kind; do not seek the malicious satisfaction of having discovered an additional enemy to the Church... And, above all, be scrupulously truthful. To all, friends and foes alike, give that serious attention which does not misrepresent any opinion, does not distort any statement, does not mutilate any quotation. We need not fear to serve the cause of Christ less efficiently by putting on His spirit". (Vermeersch, 1913).

    Yes.

There are quite a few Ukranian rite Catholic Churches in the US. They are one of the more readily available Eastern rites. Also, it is easier to find a Ukranian church where the priest doesn't incorporate Novus Ordo ideas. Unfortunately, the close Ukranian rite to me has altar girls, female readers, and I'm not sure but I think the priest here skips more than a few of the prayers.

I would think that sedes (like any Catholic) should go to any valid Catholic Mass.  Any mass where there is positive doubt about either the validity of the Mass or the ordination of the priest, they should avoid.

For there shall arise false Christs and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders, insomuch as to deceive (if possible) even the elect. (Matthew 24:24)
