  • Question about: Chaplet to St. Dymphna

    Hi Everybody,

I found two, or maybe three Internet Stores selling a Chaplet to St. Dymphna.

I know a couple of Prayers to St Dymphna, which I use often, but I never knew (until now) that among the Devotions to this Saint, there is a Chaplet too.

I was searching on the Catholic Encyclopaedia, but I could not find any info there about this particular Chaplet. I would like to know:

    1. What is the origin from this Chaplet?
    2. Did this originate through a Private Revelation? (such as the one from St. Michael's, or Divine Mercy)
    3. Is it an approved Devotion?, and
    4. Are there Indulgences associated with it?

I hope You can help me to find out.

I pray very often to St. Dymphna too, and I'd like to thank her for her intercession, but I'd like to know more, so I can share this info with more people who need her powerful intercession.

    Cheers,

    DT.

  • Well,

I'm still searching for answers, but since I haven't found, I thought I could share some other Questions of mine, and hopefully someone out there could give me a hand with this:

I found three different types of St. Dymphna's Chaplets, here is what I call Type I:

    In Green:

    In White:

In Three Colors, Red, Green, and White:

Here is what I call Type II:

Here is what I call Type III:

I found this Picture from the Medal it has:

And this one from what is on the Back from the Medal:

Here is what Wikipedia says about "Ex Indumentis":
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ex_indumentis

So, I don't know for sure which one is the correct Chaplet, or are they all Ok?

If any of You have one, please let me know which Type is yours, and where did You get it from?

    Cheers,

    DT.

This are the Instructions I found for what I call Type I:

                                            CHAPLET OF ST. DYMPHNA
The chaplet in honor of St. Dymphna consists of seventeen beads, 15 for the fifteen years of her life and
2 for the intentions of the Holy Father.
The chaplet is available in red, white or green. Red is recited in honor of her martyrdom. White in honor
of her virginity. Green for the hope of relief for emotional disorders. Intentions may be made at the
beginning or end of the chaplet.
First bead: Recite the Our Father
Second bead: Offer a Hail Mary for the Holy Father's intentions.
Fifteen beads: Say a Glory Be to the Father on each bead in honor of the fifteen years of St. Dymphna's
    life.

And for Type III, I found:

Three Times Our Father, Three Times Hail Mary, and Three Times Glory be the Father.

I found Instructions for Type II too, but they were incomplete. The Site where I found it said something like: "the instructions are included" if You buy it!   :-(

I will try to find out more, and I will share it when I have it.

    Cheers,

    DT.
