  • There seems to be a problem with the Internet today.

So far, 2 members have written to me saying they're having problems getting to the site at all. They simply can't get from there to here.  For those who can get to the site, it runs fine though.

So it's the network, the path from some computers to the server where CathInfo lives.

All I can do is make sure the site runs smoothly and fast; I can't help you get here :)

I don't know what router(s) are messed up today, nor have I heard about any major outages. But apparently there are some.

    Want to say "thank you"?

  • Matthew and computer geeks!  I could not get to CI today using my friends'  ATT WiFi service.  I switched over to Verizon Hotspot, no problem.  Tried to switch 3x and could only access when using Verizon.
St. Francis Xavier threw a Crucifix into the sea, at once calming the waves.  Upon reaching the shore, the Crucifix was returned to him by a crab with a curious cross pattern on its shell.

Good grief!  I've been running 'tracert' on/for your site, without success, every few waking hours, since late Wednesday afternoon [EDT] (output available upon request).

I actually called AT&T-Internet "tech support" (hah!) yesterday, and after getting dropped by a woman whose accent seemed Filipina, on my next call, I had to instruct the "tech" in India on how to use 'tracert', because he'd never even heard of it.  He continued to insist that there were no AT&T network outages, altho' he could see that his path to CathInfo also failed, its last hop being an Asia Pacific Network Information Centre (APNIC) IPA.  To reach someone who actually knew--or could find out--much of anything, I was told that I would be required to be a 'business' customer.  Arrrgh!

The scary part for me was when NSI's query results changed yesterday, from your plausible assigned IPA 74.[whatever], to this:
    Quote from: www.networksolutions.com/whois/results (Aug 15, 2013)
    cathinfo.com
IP Address:   1.1.1.1 (ARIN & RIPE IP search)
    Record Type:   Domain Name
    Server Type:   Apache 1
    Lock Status:   clientDeleteProhibited
    WebSite Status:   Active

Which I feared might indicate, um, a dispute so significant with [/b]your hosting provider[/b], that an inquiry via e-mail, to "news[each]CathInfo[period]com" would not reach you either.  Where "Active" might not mean what I assume--or hope--it would mean.

    Thunderstorm right overhead--gotta go now.

  • Hooray, it's working!  As I posted in my other thread, if you are having problems getting to this site or others, the Tor Browser is one way to test things:

    https://www.torproject.org/projects/torbrowser.html.en

(AT&T, you are not as reliable as you claim to be?!  Geesh, two days?!)
