The "it is good if it works" idea is Pragmatism.  William James was a big proponent of this idea, and it is at the heart of things like AA, etc.  In AA, you can use a tree or a door knob for your "Higher Power", if such suits you.

Did I say water baptism is not necessary? Nope, but how then do you explain martyr #40 on the lake noted in previous posts? or the thief on the cross? How then do I do this? I reject V2 and modernism, but I also reject your self appointed Gospel.......guess then you alone interpret scripture? you alone are righteous? What is the particulars of said Gospel?
