  • My  1 year old  became horribly  sick tonight.

2 days ago I had the worst illness of my life (that I can remember) for 48 hours and I apparently should have gone to the ER I'm told since I was completely dehydrated, but I didn't/couldn't get out of my bed. I spent the last couple days on the couch trying to stay away from the family  because I wouldn't wish this on anyone, and now the little one has it.

I'm terrified because it was the worst thing I ever had and it seemed like it would hospitalize me and I'm a grown man and she's just a baby.

    Please pray for Philomena.

Dear God, whatever this thing is that's been going around it doesn't seem to be normal.

From an euchological appendix of the late Cardinal Schuster's The Sacramentary (Liber Sacramentorum): Historical and Liturgical Notes on the Roman Missal (vol. III, trans. Arthur Levelis-Marke; New York: Benziger Brothers, 1927), here is a medieval Hymn which was wont to be chanted during the administration of the holy Sacrament of Extreme Unction and in votive Offices on behalf of the ailing.

  • From the tome Kyrie Eleison: Two Hundred Litanies with Historico-Liturgical Introduction and Notes by Rev. Fr. Benjamin Francis Musser, O.F.M. (Westminster, MD: The Newman Bookshop, 1944), here is a Litany in honor of St. Philomena, composed by St. Jean-Baptise-Marie Vianney.

May the glorious patronage of the celestial thaumaturge Saint Philomena avail you and your daughter unto health and every possible grace and blessing.

  • I will keep you posted, but she seems to have made remarkable progress by this morning-- much better than I made in the first 48 hours of this.

Prayers have been efficacious. Deo Gratias.

I'm honestly shocked after what this illness has put me through.

  • Iuvenalis,
She will be remembered in my prayers and at Mass tonight.
