  • Am I the only one who constantly sees this ad at the top of this forum?  It certainly seems strange to see this at the top of a Traditional Catholic forum.

  • What ad? I believe ads depend on what you have been searching for or related somehow to the topic and to your location, and probably other factors.

Hmm...maybe I need to get rid of ads on my computer somehow.

I think they are related to other searches you do on your computer.  And I keep getting Christian Singles ads  :laugh1:.  No, I'm happy married.

You could try running your browser (Chrome) in "Incognito Mode".

PS -- I'm getting the same "Francis Man of His Word" ad.  We might be targeted here due to this being a Catholic site.  It might be good for a laugh.  Although Francis is keeping his word to create chaos in the Church.

If you are participate in a thread which refers to singles' issues, the Christian Singles ad will come up. Just as if you participate in a Jєω topic thread you might get "Learn Hebrew" ads. and so on.

CathInfo is a Catholic site ther world over, so why am I being shortchanged? Maybe now after this discussion I'll get Francis Man of His Word.

  • The ads shown are based on several factors including browsing history and the type of website you're on though Google doesn't disclose the precise criteria they use for choosing ads for a particular user.  As far as Google is concerned, and these are Google Ads, this is a Catholic website and an ad for a movie about a "pope" is completely appropriate.  Indeed, I get this movie ad sometimes as well but usually I don't even pay attention to or notice most Google ads.

Interestingly, at this moment, I looked at the ad at the bottom of the page and it is for a Protestant theological seminary.  Why Google thinks this would be appropriate is beyond me.

But I do wonder...Does anyone ever click on Google ads?  It seems about as dangerous (identify theft, etc.) as responding to someone who calls you trying to sell you insurance or a car warranty (which I get a couple of times a day) or that email from the Nigerian prince who wants to give you $25,000,000.

P.S.  ETA:  When I posted this the ad at the bottom of the page was for a seller of women's dresses.  Since I recently purchased a dress for my daughter online, this is entirely understandable.

I have been using startpage for many years.  It became habit very easily.
The title "man of his word" makes me think there is another message being sent.  And, that message is that francis is not a man of "the word"(Jesus), but he is a man of "his word"(his own idol of errors/heresy).

This is the type of ads I most often see... related to things I've been looking for online and often from the same stores I was previously browsing. And, yes, I do occasionally click on the relevant ones.
