Pope Francis hints he may retire

VATICAN CITY — Pope Francis says he has thought about when it might be time to “take leave” of his flock.
Francis made the comment during his morning homily Tuesday; the Vatican didn’t release the full text.
Francis was reflecting on St. Paul discerning when to leave his flock in the care of others, a decision Francis said all bishops must make.
He said: “When I read this, I think about myself, because I’m a bishop and I’ll have to take my leave.”
Francis has said retired Pope Benedict XVI “opened a door” to future popes by resigning. While the 81-year-old pope has said he didn’t envisage a long papacy, he hasn’t said explicitly if he’d retire.
Francis may have also been referring to Chilean bishops implicated in a sex abuse cover-up scandal.

  • Let's just pray that he(and ratzinger) resign their white cassock and papal title along with it.

  • Bergolio is the perfect icon for the counterfeit Vatican II church, he is a gift from God for those of good will who still believe it is the Catholic Church. Outside of another pope like Bergolio who is red and has horns could anyone be more obviously not Catholic? Be careful what you wish for.

And you are a perfect example of why sedevacantism is so repulsive.  You wish ill of him, and indulge in his folly.

  • He's been hinting about it for years.  Early on he noted that he did not have much time and people took that to mean that he would retire after a few years like Ratzinger.

Yep.  He's like the kid who tells his parents he's going to run away from home as a sympathy ploy to test whether or not they would miss him if he did.

  • Did ratzinger ever hint that he might retire?  Because, I remember there was such surprise and shock about his announcement.

No he didn't.  However, he was a proponent of the concept of papal retirement when he was expert peritus at the 1965 Vatican Council.  I also remember that he encouraged Wojtyla to retire as he aged but commentators said that Wojtyla loved being pope so much that he rejected the counsel.  There were people who expected that Ratzinger would, one day, retire, but  his announcement came as a shock because he was still relatively young and healthy.

I'm sorry.  Exactly where did this poster "wish ill of him"?

He wishes ill of him by telling us to be careful what we wish for, implying that francis as an evil pope is universally a good thing.

Bergoglio has a much better chance of saving his soul as one who is not pope.  I am not one who prays for his death, nor am I one who wishes for his continued papacy(like tradhican in both cases).  Bergoglio has shown himself up until this point absolutely unqualified to be pope.  That is why I see his resignation as a good thing, not only for the church, but also for bergoglio.  That is opposite of what tradihcan wants.  If that is good, what tradhican wants is bad, or "ill".

  • Francis serves a good purpose: a sign to draw Catholics out of the Vatican II sect. He is not evil in the way men are normally thought to be evil; murderers, robbers, degenerates, but he is a destroyer of souls, an outright heretic. The longer he remains at the helm of the Conciliar Church the more souls may be brought to tradition.

Francis has a much better chance of saving his soul by converting to the faith, anything else doesn't get to the bottom of the issue, nor can he otherwise save his soul.
    2 Corinthians 4:3-4

And if our gospel be also hid, it is hid to them that are lost, In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of unbelievers, that the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should not shine unto them.

  • Watch out!

It sounds too reminiscent of the Jєωιѕн Hollywood movie script, "Shoes of a Fisherman."

Where... the pope retires, sells the Vatican's precious artworks and gives the proceeds to the poor commie Chinese.
"Some preachers will keep silence about the truth, and others will trample it underfoot and deny it. Sanctity of life will be held in derision even by those who outwardly profess it, for in those days Our Lord Jesus Christ will send them not a true Pastor but a destroyer."  St. Francis of Assisi

Vacantists are no different from the revolutionaries who opened wide the doors to the modern world, except they presume a new springtime upon utter destruction and collapse of the v2 church, which is fantasy.  It is you who need to be careful what you wish for.  There are so many reforming measures that can be taken by even a v2 pope.  If only tradition would pray for him and wish it so.
