EDITED: This quote is actually "apocryphal" meaning spurious, it didn't happen, etc. according to Snopes.

That's because

A) it wasn't anything that surprised me, and
B) I didn't come across it by means of an e-mail forward.

Come on, we all know that worldly, non-Catholic "famous people" are messed up in numerous ways -- both supernaturally speaking AND naturally speaking -- so it's nothing against Mariah Carey in particular. I think for a "pop diva" she's about average.

Though I've seen parts of her concerts (years ago, someone else in the room was playing a VCR tape) and she is no slave to modesty, etc.

Yes, I was wrong for passing on the quote as authentic. It's not like I was vouching for it though -- I just didn't investigate it. I simply passed on what seemed like an interesting tidbit.

My post (above) was only to explain WHY I didn't assume the quote was false.

I mostly felt the need to explain myself because my reasons weren't at all what "Snopes" suggested.
