  • True, the girl is just 9, but what I've learned from observing the attitudes of black school acquaintances is that they retain this infantile hypersensitivity and desire to take offense into their adult lives because they are taught to behave in such a manner.

  • These programmed responses are not limited to blacks. Anything the slightest bit "discriminatory" will get you fired in Canada. For example if you said the N word in your all white workplace someone would be sure to report you and you would be promptly escorted out of the premises.

It's funny how the army uses the word "infantry." There was a docuмentary that suggested that the term was a derogatory and a kind of inside joke among the higher ups.  As they made their commentary they were showing a clip of soldiers marching along singing hey hey ho ho followed by a simple line that really made them look like kindergarten kids.

  • It seems to me that it depends on the language and on the book.  Rewiring Huckleberry Finn is idiotic.  In fact, rewriting anything is idiotic.  That doesn't mean that it is impossible that genuinely offensive language or imagery could make its way into a children's book.

And, if someone used the word "n*****" in my presence as a slur, I would certainly be offended, and the offender would hear about it.

  • I wasn't condoning the use of the word, just showing how extreme the responses are.

As far as offences language in old books have a look at this one by Darwin from Desceent of man. Don't think he'll  be band from the bookshelves anytime soon.
If you're Irish you might be offended.

"The reckless, degraded, and often vicious members of society, tend to increase at a quicker rate than the provident and generally virtuous members. Or as Mr. Greg puts the case: ?The careless, squalid, unaspiring Irishman multiplies like rabbits: the frugal, foreseeing, self-respecting, ambitious Scot, stern in his morality, spiritual in his faith, sagacious and disciplined in his intelligence, passes his best years in struggle and in celibacy, marries late, and leaves few behind him. Given a land originally peopled by a thousand Saxons and a thousand Celts?and in a dozen generations five-sixths of the population would be Celts, but five-sixths of the property, of the power, of the intellect, would belong to the one-sixth of Saxons that remained. In the eternal ?struggle for existence,? it would be the inferior and less favoured race that had prevailed?and prevailed by virtue not of its good qualities but of its faults.?"
? Charles Robert Darwin, The Descent of Man, Great Minds Edition, 123

Yes Thursday, those of us of Irish descent, hot-tempered people, are long accustomed to such talk, perhaps showing too much equanimity in the face of it.

What Catholics need to understand is that their social enemies seek to destroy their family life.  So when we see liberalization in attitudes about practical feminism in the SSPX - sermons about marriage needing to be later, hearing about family size being limited with seeming indifference of priests, and the failure to protect the morals of young women while at the same time men are given the third degree, then we might perceive the influence of the enemy at work inside the SSPX itself.

Make no mistake.  If a vicious venomous freemason writes a foreword and edits a book written by an SSPX priest - it's a sure sign the servants of Satan are infiltrating the SSPX.

Does that include rap stars and blacks in the ghetto who use that same word when referring to eachother?

Not to make an example of you Sigismund but would you have such a strong reaction if someone made a Paddy joke (Irish joke). How many potato jokes has the Irish American had to endure but remeber when Tiger Woods won the masters for the first time and that golfer made that joke about having watermelon at the dinner and there was that huge outcry.

This political correctmess is not based on principle, that is, it's not consistant or it doesn't apply to every race or group. We are just programmed to react like Pavlov's dogs.  And, I think that it is designed to make people react in one of two ways, both beyond what is reasonable. Either one takes too much offence, and jumps to the groups defence, or one gets too angry and starts dislike the group in question.

Anyhow the following lecture is by a black guy by the name of Leonard Patterson who went to Moscow to be trained for black revolution. I think anyone who listens to it will get a deeper understanding of the race issue.

Here is a short one where you can see the guy speaking.

  • What we are failing to point out is that this young girl expresses herself better than most 18 year olds in America. For all its limpwristed, we hate ourselves because were Germans attitude, the government schools there do a fantastic job of teaching the X's and O's albeit without a virtuous foundation.

I did notice that she misspelled "schreiben" at the end. But that is typical for handwriting at that age of over 100 words.

It would depend on the joke, honestly. And we aren't talking about a joke here.  We are talking about  a racial slur.  Those are always offensive.

    Since when?  Who decided?

Who decided "racial slurs" are always offensive but the sort of things Thursday are talking about are no big deal?

  • Well "honky" might be a better equivalent because it refers directly to white person. And obviously I'm programmed too because I wouldn't write the N word and I didn't think twice about writing "honky," or is it "honkey"?

And I think we all agree that neither word should be used but I don't think anyone ever got fired for saying honkey.

Actually most in the black community use the term "whitey" when referring to whites.

Considering the source (Darwin, the man who gave us Evolution), I'd just say he's wrong, and a fool.

He's just biased. The Irish might have some issues with discipline, but certainly not with intellect.

And reality is not on his side. Scots are "spiritual in their faith"? Yeah right. That's certainly not true today. How many Scots -- mostly P resbyterians or Methodists  -- would you describe as being very "spiritual" people? On the contrary.

Those sects are particularly "mainstream" or worldly in their beliefs and daily life.
