Everything does NOT go in "General Discussion" if you really want people to actually see it.

That's a common misconception, and it makes the forum hard to use.

Posts appear in "New Topics" regardless of what sub-forum they live in. And guess what? If someone doesn't go in Crisis in the Church subforum, there's a reason for that. It's because they DON'T WANT to read anything about the Pope or the Crisis.

Incidentally, a word to the wise: if a topic has the word "Pope" in it, it probably belongs in the Crisis subforum.

You can't force people to read stuff they don't want to. If they want to read about Economic matters, they will certainly click on the "Great Depression" subforum. Trust me. If they won't, then there's nothing you can do to get them to read your precious post.

I realize that everyone wants their posts (which take time to write) to be read by the widest audience possible. You just have to trust that the forum has enough members, and enough members/lurkers interested in the topic you're posting about.

Using a provocative/bizarre/mysterious headline, in all caps, posted in General Discussion, just makes you an annoying member. And an attention whore.

Posting everything in "General" isn't the answer. Please don't do it. I'm busy enough without having to move dozens of mis-placed threads.
