I will be installing/configuring a new router Monday late morning, as well as getting the final (new) Static IP address for my server.
My Internet provider is forcing me to change Static IP addresses. But right now I don't have one at all. When I get a (new) Static IP out of them Monday while talking to their support on the phone, it's going to mean another DNS update. These updates take time, for all computers on the entire Internet to "get the news" about the CathInfo move to a new IP address.
During the transition period (from 2 hours to 36 hours), CathInfo may appear to be down for some.
Just wanted to give everyone a heads-up. I'm doing my best, but I don't control what my Internet provider does. They're still the best option I have, by far. As is self-hosting in general. In this age of censorship and cancel culture, self-hosting is the only way for a forum that discusses controversial topics. So dealing with my local Internet provider during occasional outages like this is well worth it.
