Pioneer Asia Traditional Catholic & benefactor passes away

    • The death of Mr. Thomas Sumantri on 30 May 2017 in Singapore was announced in the SSPX Asia magazine's August 2017 issue.
    Here is the announcement:

    "Mr Thomas Sumantri passed away on Tuesday 30 May 2017; he had received the last rites and viaticuм. He was the biggest benefactor of the Society in Asia. It is thanks to his generosity that the apostolate in Southeast Asia was started as he used to pay for all the airplane tickets of the priests who would fly from Australia in the late 1980s/early 1990s to serve Hong Kong, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Singapore.
    When he moved to Singapore from Hong Kong with his family in the early 90s, he hosted the Mass in his home and when a proper chapel was established, he continued to show himself a generous supporter helping also with the setting up of the priory in the year 1999".

    • Asian Traditional  Catholicism is mysterious to me.

    Does anyone know the names of the Tridentine Mass benefactors in Seoul, Korea ?

    I heard the benefactor went "resistance" and changed the locks on the doors to his chapel that was being served by the SSPX.

    I believe that the benefactor in South Korea is Dr Kim, a lady doctor. You may recall that Bishop Williamson said that one of the three major benefactors who helped in the purchase of his current residence came from Asia. I wonder if it was this same lady?.
