They look so sweet and innocent with their big sheep eyes but they can be a bit on the feisty side, can't they?

Oh, were you talking about the Jersey? Yeah, they sure are feisty. April's mom, Hellen, if she doesn't know you, won't let you touch her udder. I've been kicked, thrown up against the wall by the swoop of her neck, butted, etc. Her and I finally came to terms, but gosh it was frustrating. She's docile towards me now.

Wow -- I'm impressed by how many CathInfo members have gone "back to the land" and are raising livestock.

We have land, too, but we're not using it much yet. Our kids are mostly too young to help.

 :cowboy:

We just have a small orchard of young trees right now. I've done gardening and chickens -- and hope to return to both, just for starters.

Considering our German backgrounds, I'm also going to get into Hugelkultur. The nation that gave the world jet engines, rockets, and the atomic bomb has also come up with a permaculture technique that provides plenty of water and nutrients to a garden bed (or any plant, really) without watering or fertilizing -- and the hugelkultur bed is good for 4-6 years. All you need to build one is wood, compost, and a shovel.

Since there has been no photographic evidence of lagomorph ownership amongst the CathInfo crowd, here's one of ours...a Lionhead.

Alright, SOS, here are some goats!
The first one is our boer buck, Avenger. He's quite the character. The second one (tan and white) is one of our milk goats, Daisy. She wonderful to milk, but it's a rodeo trying to catch her. The third one is my favorite goat, Dede, and her kid.
