  • Once a year or so, I take advantage of an offer for a free photobook (usually from Shutterfly as I've found their site to consistently work well for me). Has anyone else made these before? I think they turn out really nice and my kids LOVE to look at them.

There's a free one available right now and so I tossed our school plans for today aside and am working on gathering the best photos I've taken over the past year. (I clearly don't take very many photos as it takes me a year to fill 20 pages!)

The offer right now is for a free 8x8 hardcover book -- you only pay shipping which I understand is about $8. You can also upgrade to a larger or nicer book and just pay the difference.

Promo code: SUMMERBOOK   Offer ends Wednesday

I think it's a good deal and I never otherwise get around to turning digital pictures into physical ones, so I thought I'd pass along the offer in case anyone is interested.

  • I have done these in the past, one memorable book was pictures of our first year of serious gardening. It's quite a treasure.

The books I did with just random photos taken throughout the year was too time consuming (for me) because I tried to make it with a certain theme or --even worse-- the pictures in chronological order throughout the year.

My advise for those giving this a go -- have fun, be creative! Your children will get a real treat when this arrives in the mail. Well worth the shipping price.

  • What a great idea! (unless Neanderthal techs like myself can't follow the instructions)

They do offer an "easy mode" where you just give it pictures and the computer puts them on the pages. It's pretty no-frills and not as nice of an end product, but you could try it if you're having trouble with what they call their "custom path".

This is what I usually do as that's how my computer sorts my pictures. I usually end up with a page for each birthday party or major outing / event with a few random picture pages in between. Then, I'll grab my camera and get current shots of everyone for the last few pages so that my book isn't out-of-date before I even finish it. : )

If you finish your book in a timely manner, make sure and send a link to it along with the coupon code to any grandparents, etc who might be interested. You can only order one free book, but they can order their own super easy after you've done all of the work to put it together.
