The jews (Hebrews) of the Old Testament are are not the same as the jews post Christ's death on the Cross. The jews post Christ's death on the Cross are the Pharisees and Scribes referred to as the Sons of Satan. Not many jews converted to Christianity (number of canonized Jєωιѕн Saints speaks for itself) post Christ's crucifixion.
I see what you mean but I think the whole Bible, both Old and New Testament is a powerful account of Jews in general deserting and being treacherous towards the One True God. That is the
central theme.
The Old Testament simply recounts the story of the very, very few Jews who did not so.
The "elect". These were the Just of the Old Testament who descended to Limbo, to wait for the resurrected Christ.
