  • What are people's thoughts about persuading friends and family who attend the novus ordo or have left the church completely.

Although I haven't tried to persuade many people, it seems much harder to persuade NO goers than people who don't go at all. The problem with ex-Catholics is that though they might agree with you over what has happened they don't seem to be inclined to start going to mass again.

So far I have yet to persuade anyone, although I haven't taken out an ad in the newspaper yet. I see another problem there. I don't know how well thw local traditional parish could deal with a bunch of new people who are two generations removed from the faith. It almost seems better that people are coming one at a time, this way they assimilate with the folks who have been there a while. I could see new cliques forming if there was an influx.

  • It is not a matter of persuasion but a matter of grace.  If you could get them to start praying their rosary and wearing a scapular first, that would be recommended, because grace will start to flow again.

  • I guess it's more of actions. As they say, actions speak louder than words.

I believe they'd soon get attracted to the Catholic faith by living your life as a good Catholic.

  • Yes, the Rosary and the Scapular is very, very effective. Most people I know who attend the TLM, first started praying the Rosary and then found the TLM and the Grace to attend It - including myself.

All of those that I know that used to attend the TLM and then went back to the NO - first stopped praying the daily Rosary.

  • The folks I know who go to the NO do their share of Rosaries. With them they just don't seem to be able to face the fact that the church has been hi-jacked. They'll say stuff like "I agree mistakes have been made but we have to stand by the church" or offer a disparaging remark about conspiracy theories. Or the classic line about the natural ebb and flow of the church.

Now, the folks who lost their faith after vatican II I think would greatly benefit from the Rosary so that's who I'll try to work on.
